In 2014, we had youth retreat at our church. We had declared a retreat where "Youth, You Have Been Called To Freedom". In the retreat God glorified Himself in wonderful ways. Many of the youth was delivered from bitterness, resentment, un-forgiveness, oppression, and many other things. It is beautiful what God has done and what He is going to do in the future.

Luke 4:18 says:

"The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news

to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners

and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free"

God is ready to set people free. So many are in need of a Savior, of a Deliverer, and through Jesus is the only way that you can be so. If you but ask He will do so. He wants to free those that are captive to sin, those that feel a lack of love in their lives due to hatred, rejection, or for any other stronghold.

He wants to free anyone who is oppressed by the enemy. The devil who we know is the adversary to all of us that believe in Jesus Christ and follow Him. The enemy wants to trap us all; he has trapped many and make them feel like there is no escape. However, anyone and everyone who feels like he or she is in a state of oppression has to know that there is a Deliverer and His name is Jesus.

He also wants to fill up all the emptiness in your heart and life. He wants to set free everyone who has been attacked by thoughts and feelings that do not belong or come from God. All of you who may feel hatred, bitterness, resentment, sometimes all of these emotions can be towards oneself.

I shared a testimony with you guys about how God had healed my heart from all the pain, anger, and bitterness towards my father for abandoning us. However, Jesus healed all the wounds in my soul and showed me the love of the Father. If you want to read it, it is here in this book in one of the chapters from before.

John 1:1 says:

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God"

Jesus is El-Shaddai (Almighty God). He has the power to free those that are chained by Satan, those that are oppressed to not get closer to God. This results in a spiritual stagnant. We are going to analyze Luke 4:18 and what this content means to us.

"The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me"

We have to know the anointing that was upon Jesus. He said so Himself, why is it that He was anointed for and this verse shows us that. When we know the anointing that Jesus has, we know that we can come forth before Him and demand from that anointing, not because we order Him to do so but because He promised us all that He will. The woman that was bleeding for twelve years, she saw the anointing in Jesus and touch Him to demand from that power that flowed through Him.

"Because He has anointed Me, to preach the gospel to the poor"

He has come to give good news, that you are not condemned when you receive Him in your heart because He has already paid the price. He took all the wrath of God upon Himself, everything that was meant for us He paid for it. He took all of our sins and redeemed us, something that none of us could have done. This good news is the gospel of Christ, that because of grace we live now, because of grace we have the opportunity to come closer to God the Father through Jesus. He came for the ones in need, whoever had lack of joy, happiness, love, and affection. Even those that are sick.

Psalms 30:11 - " You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have put off my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness"

"He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted"

All those we have wounds of the heart, who are brokenhearted because of rejection, unloved, hatred, anger, or somebody has left you, your husband cheated and broke your heart, your children are not grateful, anything that you may be going through Jesus will heal you! He will heal the brokenhearted of those that ask Him. Those that need to forgive, they will be forgiven.

"To proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind"

The Word of God says in John 8:32: "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free". Everyone who has been put in captivity by the enemy. Either because of depression, hatred, un-forgiveness, or in the captivity of sin where many are oppressed by it and in prisons that can't be escaped from. I want to tell you that Jesus wants you to be free. To deliver your soul and body. The enemy has already had you as a prisoner for too long, tormenting your lives. You might think that God can't forgive you, but that thought and mindset come from Satan himself. The favor of God is for you! The grace of God is for you! Jesus has come to destroy all works of the devil.

Whoever has been blinded by the enemy, whoever can't understand the Word of God and His decisions that sometimes surpass all of our human understanding. Whoever can't look farther than the natural realm, there is a way because of Jesus. The light of the gospel will shine upon you all and open your eyes, so any stronghold placed will be broken down.

Jesus said he was the way, the truth, and the life. He delivers us so we can love Him, live a life that is whole in Him and what He wants for us.

"To set at liberty those who are oppressed"

There are many who are oppressed by Satan; many who have been intimidated by him. He has taken away all the weapons that God has given us as sons and daughters in order to fight against darkness. There are people who are oppressed to sin and go against the will of God. There is a spirit that pushes them to do the things that they don't want to do.

God has come to give us freedom. He came to take away all the dominion and power that the enemy had over us. Jesus paid the price at the cross, He embarrassed all the principalities, the governors, the impure spirits. They can't withstand the presence of God.

Greater is He living in me and you, than he who is in the world!

If you want to receive Christ, here is a prayer that you may do:

Jesus,

I receive and recognize you as my Savior and Lord. I repent and ask for the forgiveness of my sins, for all to be washed away by Your precious blood. I know that You gave Your life for me at the cross, You left all your majesty and kingdom in order to save me and humanity. Thank You for your love, mercy, and grace. I ask You to write me in the book of the living, to place my name deep in Your heart and hand so I may never fall. I know You died and resurrected again on the third day. Help me from this day forward to believe in You more, grown in faith, love You, obey You, follow You, and present You like it is deserved by You. Thank you Jesus, for giving me an identity, a father, a friend, and for being the lover of my soul.

Amen.
