It has already been four days since they left Limbistein. They left the day after the festival. The Milestone tried to convince them to stay longer but Capt. Volnacker said that they were in a hurry.

“What is Lord Wilston like?” Marianne asked one time while they were travelling.

“He is one of the greatest knights that served our kingdom. His skills are unmatched and his powers are one of a kind. He has taken care of the survivors of the Black War and stood as our leader because no one among us was fit to take the position and the prince and princess were missing.” He explained.

“What kind of powers does he have?” Patricia asked.

“Umm… I can tell you but you probably won’t believe me…” he smiled.

       “Why?”

“Because aside from his sword and other fighting skills, the power of his Proof is strange but useful…”

       “What exactly is a Proof?”

“It is a special item or weapon that names a person as a knight. It has special powers imbued with some of the great powers of the gods and goddess themselves…” Capt. Volnacker explained but he could see that they did not fully understand him fully. He laughed. “Don’t think about it much. I’m sure you’ll understand more about it in the future.”

They nodded and concentrated on the road again.

The town of Abracar is situated three kilometers away from the mountain where other Brethanians are held captives. Being that close to the mountain, one could expect that the town itself is scary but it turned out to be like just any other town Patricia have seen.

“I really thought that this town would be different since it is this close.” Patricia said as they arrived.

“Yes. But the people don’t let that get into them. They just act normal and do their jobs every day, but you can sometimes see people who are bothered by it. Lots of stories and rumors surround this place about the mountain and people always love to exaggerate. Remember to be always be careful when you are in this town because this is one of the places that gets high level of security from the government.” Capt. Volnacker said. “And don’t come out alone especially at night…”

“Captain, do you know anyone here?” Marianne asked.

“Of course, I know a few people who live here.”

“You really do have a lot of connection.” Marianne said.

He nodded. “It is necessary to have a lot of connections in our situation and it also widens our influence.”

“Where are we going to stay?” Patricia asked.

“We are going to stay at an inn this time.”

They followed Captain Volnacker to the inn. It was small and old. The old man behind the counter was sleeping in his rocking chair while holding a book in his hands.

They rang the bell on the top of the counter and he woke up in surprise and his expression showed that he was surprised to have guests in his inn. Patricia concluded that the inn might have visitors rarely.

       “Three rooms please…”

“Marianne and I can share a room.” Patricia said.

“Only two rooms then.” He said to the old man.

“You are also welcome to eat at our diner.” The old man gestured to the double doors at the side of the room. Patricia and Marianne decided to see it.
