It was already past midnight and Mikhaila still couldn’t sleep. She could feel that her brother was being troubled by something that she can’t know.
“He also probably couldn’t sleep now.” She muttered to herself. “Oh, brother…I hope that you are alright.”
She also wished that he was here with her now. She missed everything about him—his face…his eyes…his hands…his warm touch. It pained her also while thinking that he will feel and undergo more pain in the future.
Mikhaila completely understands what her brother feels—his confusion and denial of the truth because she also felt that way at first.
Ron would have seen him, she thought. Since Tristaine said that the Tearan knights were the ones who captured them.
Thinking about that made her think that her brother already became a knight serving King Gelatte. A knight always obeys his king. What if my brother becomes my enemy? She thought.
“I don’t want that to happen.” She cried. “Please…please, I can’t stand it when that happens…Goddess Euphiria, please help my brother accept the truth.”
Mikhaila fell asleep crying and dreamt about her childhood with him.
The next day, she sat down to breakfast with the rest at the head of the table.
“Capt. Volnacker, any news about Ron and the Milestones?” she asked.
“I apologize, your Highness but we haven’t got any news about them.” He answered.
“This has become a disadvantage to us. Jackson Milestone is the head of our spy network in the Tearan kingdom.” Sir Wilston said.
“What happened to the other spies?” she asked.
“They are all on alert and is keeping a low profile. And we have no updates about what is happening in the capital.” Sir Wislton said.
“I’m sure Ron will not talk about anything.” Capt. Tristaine said. “Even the Milestones won’t say I word.”
“I trust them…” Mikhaila said.
The rest nodded and continued with their breakfast silently.
For the next few days, they waited for any news about Ron and the Milestones. Mikhaila was sitting in the veranda with Marianne and Sir Wilston when Capt. Volnacker and Tristaine walked in. they have been communicating with the other spies these past few days.
“What news do you have?” Mikhaila asked automatically.
“Nothing about Ron and the others but we heard that the king’s younger brother is in the capital now. The knights haven’t made a move since they captured our spies and we received word that search parties have been sent to the mountains.” Capt. Volnacker said.
“Do you think that they managed to escape?” Sir Wilston asked.
“I think so too because search parties have been dispatched.”
“But Ron is a very skilled fighter. He can easily fight their way out.” Tristaine said.
“I hope that they really managed to escape.” Mikhaila said. “It would be unfortunate if they were sent to Mt. Abracar.”
“Do you know how long will the king’s brother be in the capital?” Sir Wilston asked.
“I think no one knows about that.”
