The journey back to Camelot seemed longer than in had the first time around. During the whole journey the only thing Adelaide had to look at was the backside of Arthur's horse. Not really something you want to be staring at for three days straight. All she wanted to do was have curl up in a soft bed and get a good nights sleep.
They were about half a mile from Camelot, and nearer the end of the long journey when Addie suddenly felt a strong force push her off her horse. As she lay on the ground, stars spinning before her eyes, listening to the distant cry's of Morningstar, she knew that this was the work of magic. Just before the world around went black, she saw a shadowing figure being grabbed by Arthur's knights.
Arthur had seen the whole thing, he saw the man use magic to knock Adelaide off Morningstar. He did not need to command the knights of Camelot to seize him, they did so without his orders. Arthur trusted his men to deal with the stranger, and rushed to Adelaide's side. He didn't want to admit it, but he did truly care for his future wife. The force of Adelaide hitting the ground must have been great, by time Arthur had got to her, she was out cold. He called to Merlin, who was still on his horse looking very confused, as always. Amelia joined Arthur on the ground next to Adelaide, while Merlin made his way over, still looking very confused.
The knights had seized the man within seconds, and now held him captive. There was still no sign of Adelaide waking up so Arthur made the decision to move Addie to the castle so that Gaius could help her. Arthur would not leave Adelaide's side and stayed with Merlin and Gaius until she finally woke up two hours later. Adelaide complained of a terrible headache but other than that seemed to not have suffered from her fall nor the blast of magic that she had been hit with. Never the less Gaius told her that she was not to leave her chambers for two days.
Adelaide was not very happy about being confined to her bed for two days. However, she did not argue, as she very light headed and extremely tired. Adelaide awoke 3 hours later feeling stronger and ready to for a walk. she didn't care that she was ordered on bed rest, she decided she felt fine. The knights who were guarding her room had not been informed of her need to stay in bed and aloud her past without a protest.
Adelaide always loved walking in woods and decided that a walk in the woods within Camelot was exactly what she needed. When she was a small child she always played in the woods near her home, and knew how to navigate her way back. Addie knew that Arthur would be very cross if he found out that she was in the woods but Adelaide went anyway. She entered the woods from the left side of the castle and headed for the waterfalls.
Unknown to Adelaide, Arthur and his knights were also in the woods looking for clues on how the sorcerer had knocked Adelaide off her horse, and if he had any friends nearby who had helped him with his magic. It was when Arthur and the knights were studying the spot where Adelaide had fallen that the woman with long red hair ran past them.
Upon getting to the waterfall, Adelaide sat at the waters edge, and found that the gentle sound of the water falling on the rocks below calmed her. It was all too late by the time she heard a branch crack in the woods behind her. She suddenly stood and whipped her hear around causing herself to fall back on to the grass. She frantically tried to scrabble back to her feet, only to freeze when the woman spoke.
"You know that was my husband that knocked you off your horse and tried to put a spell on you? He's not very good at magic" said the old woman. "However I am and I intend to finish what he started" continued the woman. "You will never get to marry Arthur" the woman said in a spine chilling hiss. "Why would you want to harm me?'' Adelaide said attempting to sound a lot stronger than she actually felt. "Me and my husband hate you" she yelled "You got our son killed" she continued to scream. Then suddenly she fell silent, waited a moment as though composing herself before continuing in her evil hiss. "Lets get started then shall we" said the woman. Blue rays of magic shot from her hands straight at Adelaide. As the rays struck Addie she felt as if she was going to die from the pain the woman was making her feel.
Arthur heard the screams in the woods nearby. He and the knights ran to see what was the matter, and how they could help. When they arrived, the scene before them left Arthur stunned in fear. Adelaide was on the floor screaming, and crying with a woman standing over her somehow controlling blue rays of magic coming out of her hands and going directly into Adelaide. As the knights ran forward to save their future Queen, the woman spun around to face them and then suddenly disappeared in a cloud of blue smoke.
Adelaide sat on the floor sobbing. As Arthur approached she started to cry harder, and he could see that she was very pale. "Shhh, Adelaide it's me Arthur. What happened?" he asked as he brushed a stray piece of hair from her face. Adelaide was about say something when her eyes closed and she fell limp into Arthur's arms. _________________________________________________________________________ A/N: ^^^^^^^^Sorry about the weird spacing^^^^^^^^^^
