Chapter Seven

Ever since Adelaide found out about moving to Camelot, she tried not to think about how rarely she would see her family. Again today, she pushed this thought to the back of her mind. Unfortunately today it was not so easy; today was the day she would leaving. She knew that once she started the make friends in Camelot, she would not be so sad about leaving Adreabeth, it was not like she wasn't taking any of her friends with her, she had Amelia, Morningstar and Bradley. She also knew that she would see her family at her wedding - whenever that would be. The only choice Adelaide and Arthur had about the wedding, was when it would take place, and they had not even begun to discuss that.

Upon entering the throne room Adelaide immediately sensed the high emotion. Her father, who was stood by the throne, just looked at her with sad and distant eyes. Once she had closed the great wooden doors her father slowly walked towards her and did something he had never done; he hugged her. Did her father regret his decision to send her to Camelot? She was momentarily confused. She has seen other fathers hug their children, but never had her father hugged her. She seized the moment and hugged him like she would never let him go. As her father pulled away, she again saw the sadness in his brown eyes. Adelaide had inherited her mother's curly blonde hair and her brown eyes from her father. She now knew that saying goodbye would be one of the hardest things she had ever had to do.

Adelaide was late for the last dinner with her family as she decided that she would braid her hair. Braiding her waist length hair was very time consuming, and it did not help that she kept finding her mind wandering away from the task. By the time she arrived, her father, Arthur and the knights of Camelot were already seated and ready to eat. She closed the door with an unexpected loud bang, and all eyes turned on her. She gently sat down avoiding everyone's eyes. Throughout dinner Adelaide was very quiet; only talking when she was addressed, and even then she did so with very few words.

Once dinner was over Adelaide headed up to her room to finishing packing her belongings. Her bedroom chambers were on the highest floor of the castle, so it took her awhile to get there. Upon entering her room she realized how much she would miss her room. Most people would have said it was stupid to miss something as dumb as a room, but Adelaide had grown up in this room since she was a little girl.

As Adelaide looked out the window, she saw that Amelia was leading Firebreeze and her own horse, Morningstar, to the front of the palace. Adelaide never saw Morningstar as just a horse, more of a friend. She could never tell any of her other friends her secrets, but Morningstar seemed to always listen and never past judgement. Morningstar and Adelaide had become best of friends from the day they met. Her father has surprised her on her 13th birthday with her very own horse. Even as a colt, Morningstar had always listened to Adelaide move around the stable by twitching her chocolate brown ears. Adelaide loved the way Morningstar would nudge her with her nose to get her attention. Morningstar had the cutest white stripe of fur that ran from in between her ears down the full length of her nose.

Most people would have thought that because Adelaide was a member of the royal family that she would have many belongings to take to Camelot, but this was not the case with Adelaide. Her father was determined that she would not be a spoiled child and treated her like the other kids in the town. Adelaide threw the last items of her belongings into her travel bag and called to Bradley. As she exited the castle, with Bradley trailing behind her, she greeted Amelia and ran her hand down Firebreeze's dark black fur. She told Amelia she was going to tack up Morningstar and headed towards the stable.
