Cato's POV

I woke up this morning a little earlier this morning to get some time to think in before the games.

So I'm dressed and cleaned up when I hear everyone talking downstairs.

I head downstairs and see them gathered in a circle mumbling to themselves.

All I hear is "what do you think Cato will say? This is the biggest thing that has happened in the past 74 years!" And then I hear clove start "he did it cause he was jealous of mr lover boy upstairs!"

I walk down the last steps and tiptoe behind the group. They don't notice me.

I sneak up and peak through their shoulders.

"Lover boy is hear to join you, what's going on?" I ask.

"Well why don't you take a look yourself!" Clove says.

Why is she talking to me? I thought we hated each other.

She takes the TV remote and flips on the news. The man on the Television was talking nonsense about a boy who had committed suicide off a building last night.

"Why are you showing me this Clove? You know I hate this!" I say

"Wait for it!" She says.

So I keep watching and watching and wathing, then finally, the man says who it was.

"I am sorry to inform you but the boy who committed suicide... Was District 12's Peeta Mellark.

My jaw drops and the room goes silent.

"Katniss." I say

"Great! All he cares about is Girl on Fire and how she is doing after this! Like c'mon! It's not that big of a deal! They don't even need to postpone the games! She will be fine!" Cloves being cocky.

I turn around and grab Clove by the collar of her shirt and push her against the wall.

"What did you say?" I ask clove completely unaware I was hurting her.

"I said, they don't need to postpone the games over a boys stupid decision." She says.

"Ow! Your hurting me" she yells.

I let go of her and see the bruise I gave her on her arm.

Completely embarrassed, I grab my jacket and take the elevator to Katniss' floor.

The elevator opens and I see Katniss alone standing on the balcony that leads out from the kitchen.

I decided to sneak up on her. Which might be a bad idea.

"Hello Katniss." I say

She turns around and was ready to punch me for sneaking up on her.

"I'm sorry about-" she cuts me off

"It's alright. It wasn't your fault."

She says

"Yes it was. I was the one who made him so jealous." I explain

"C'mon Cato. It wasn't you. He made a stupid decision. They shouldn't cancel the games because of his mistake."

That's weird. That was exactly what clove said.

"Plus, it's his fault for not realizing how many people still loved him." She says

"Did you love him?" I ask her.

"Well yeah," My heart drops

"As a brother." She carries on.

I take a deep breath in showing her my relief. She giggles.

"Well are you going to talk to President Snow or not?" She asks me.

"About what?" I ask

"Putting the games back on!"

Why is she so eager?

"You won't need to ask me. " Mr President says as he walks in through the front door.

"Oh hello!" Katniss says. "Are you putting the games back on?"

"Well, I was thinking and, the games will begin tomorrow!" He explains.

"Wait, what?" I barge in, "isn't that a bit early why not the day after tomorrow?" I exclaim

"I suppose it might give people some time to train a bit and get ready." He says, "alright! The day after tomorrow it is." He says while walking out the door.

"And may the odds be ever in your favour"
