Ethia Tronths POV (District One)

"DISTRICT ONE Ethia Tronths".

As soon as I hear my name, I snap up and almost immediately out the door to The Training Centre.

I can't wait to see my score, of course I know it'll be high. Probably an Eleven, maybe a Twelve. I can pull it off I suppose.

When I walk through the doors the chatter of the Capitol freaks hushes, I introduce myself and my ten minutes begins.

I walk directly to the weaponry section and grabbing two, arm length knifes. One for each hand. I call out to the five assistants standing against the far wall. They are there in case we need something during our session. I demand they bring me an electronic dummy.

It is on heals and moves randomly and unpredictably. While they go out grabbing it, I swing around handling my knives in the most skilled of choreography.

My electronic dummy is place beside me and I take a step back, just in case its indirect movement decides to come my way. I am on the balls of my feet ready to pounce, and suddenly, the dummy springs into action. It goes fast left and I follow slashing it down the chest. It then turns a sharp right, where my leg is ready, kicking it in the face. I spin and slice one of my daggers down the face and the other into the neck. It moves backwards but my dagger is still wedged into its neck.

"Shit" I think

I have lost one of my knives to a dummy. As the dummy drives backwards, with a knife jarred into the side of its nice, I chase after it like a cheetor for its prey. I jump high onto the dummy, wrapping my legs around its torso, I yank out the knife and stab the two knives into the dummies head.

The dummy shuts down and stops moving. I jump off it and look towards the Gamemakers, and the head game maker looks at me with a smile.

I look up at the giant clock above the nymph in the wall the Game Makers are in.

1.35. minutes.

I sprint over to the obstacle course as quick as I can hoping to get there and do more there. I get there in maybe fifteen seconds and grab a machete on the way.

I go through the course hitting targets on the way wedging my machete in each target, and when I see the ten second count down I through the machete at the target at the end of the course about fifteen metre away.

Bulls eye.

Alexandria Mayes POV (District Six)

'
District Six, Alexandria Mayes'

After what feels like hours of waiting, my name is finally called.

I look at Kyte, he smiles and nods, with an encouraging face. Then Blanke pats me on the back, and smiles.

'You can do it' he mimes.

I walk through the gates and into the training centre.

It looks oddly different. Its funny what a change of arrangement of the furniture can do.

The paint, next to the door, for disguising and stuff has been used. No doubt Matilda from Five probably used it. Shes always there in Training.

I walk over to the Game Makers.

'Alexandria Mayes, District Six."

The nod and begin the ten minutes on the giant clock above them.

I walk over to the weaponry section and grab an axe.

I want to grab a mace, but the Training with Kyte made me look so horrible with one because of his unbelievable skill.

I had used an axe at the start of the day yesterday. It was pretty straight forward, although the are quite heavy, and that can be a disadvantage when spinning it around when freestyling.

I call out to the helpers on the side and ask for six dummies. In a quick time each dummy is lined up ready for slaughtering.

I feel my stomach drop. Imagine if these are real people. This is the sort of thing I will do to real people in the games. I almost throw up. I feel sick in the smomach.

But I have to get past this to survive, and in a matter of moments I am darting from one dummy to another. Handling the tool as if I know what I am doing with it.

When, I don't. I'm not going to lie about it.

The more skilled I look, the more impressive the performance is.

I make sure each hit is launched into one of the several targets on the dummy.

Once I have finished what might have been a two minute runtine, all the dummy are headless, except for one, in which I attempted. The foam heads role around on the floor and I kick one, because I can. The Game Makers laugh.

I still have four mintues, so I go over the the back of the room where the starting like for a two-hundred metre running course begins. It wins around the edges of the like a race track.

It takes me back to when Derek took us into the Training Cornucopia, and how fast Kyte, Blanke and I were, and how Derek praised us for our speed.

There is a giant timer next to the starting like with a big 'GO' and 'STOP' button. I assume go will start the race so I press it and wiz around the room.

'STOP'

Oliver Moore POV (District Nine)

'District Nine, Oliver Moore'

The whole room just looks at me. They heads spinning in my direction and back to the way they were before.

There movements are some what enhanced in my eyes, my head spinning, everything is like a blur. I am beyond nervous.

This is my life I'm fighting for here.

Isobel had just gone in, she probably did an awesome job with her sword, but then I will most likely be a disapointment.

I remember our Escort, Peter, his words wringing in the back of my mind -

"Try your hardest, do your best. That is as much as I can ask for"

Peter is one of the most kindest, generous and genuine people I will and have ever met. So caring for us, it's as if he has been through the experience before and felt the horror and despair of this experience, he understands Isobel and I.

I walk through the gates to see an intoxicated party of gamemakers. Laughing, shouting. Each and everyone one of them giving me the respect of a rock.

I give a small cough so they can at least give me there undivided attention.

Nothing.

I cough a little louder

Still, Nothing

"Ehem!" Everyones head snaps to me, it is probably one of the loudest things to escape my mouth. But I've got there attention now. My head is in a flurry, what do I do, what do I say to these pigs, these rude self-centred brutes who care nothing of me.

"Now that I have your attention you might give me some more of the respect you gave me when I came in."

"Excuse YOU!" One of the freaks call

"Excuse me! Excuse me my ass, you BRUTES!"

I storm out of the room while a tear escapes my eye.

Everything I had planned to show them, my first-aid skills, my knowlege, all out the window. Because of my stupid temper.

Suddenly I regret everything I said and know immediately, I will die for sure now.

Jessie Lawlor POV (District Four)

I am above and beyond angry now. Furious actually. No. Furious is an understatement for how I feel right now.

Cameron has done it again.

Turn me into a nervous wreck.

He does this all the time to get under my skin, I am certainly not dumb, i understand e wicked games he plays. So I will not devise under his plan, make it look like I am, when I am not.

Even thiugh he has made an impression on me and I am feeling very on edge, I must concentrate on the real goal.

Get through this training session with a score of ten or higher.

'District Four, Jessie Lawlor'

I stand straight up, putting on an aggressive face, hissing at all the opponents still in the Waiting Area.

I few glare back, most don't.

The very little amount that glare back are the ones that think they have a chance when in fact then have none at all.

As I stand, Cameron grabs my sleeve and pulls me down.

"Hey Jess," he whispers "Wouldn't it be a shame, if YOU stuffed up and I got a higher mark then you"

He chuckles, so I hit him in the face with my elbow. He still chuckles!

"IT'S NOT EVEN FUNNY! FOR FUCK SAKE!" I shout.

Everyone is definitely looking at me now.

My blood boils, this kid has got to learn a lesson.

I walk through the gates of the Gym, and see the Game Makers sitting, in anticipation I bet.

I introduce myself and the timer begins, ten minutes to prove myself.

I am so effing pissed with Cameron that I know exactly what to do. I demand a dummy and almost immediately it has arrived. I run of the the weaponry area and grab a Dagger, A sword and An Axe.

I drop them off where the dummy is left and go grab a bucket of red paint.

I also drop that off where the dummy is, not joined by weapons. I grab the red paint and lather it on the dummy, spelling 'FOR CAMERON' in a blood red colour.

This ought to do the trick. I set the dummy up

6 Minute remain. I grab the dagger and slice the throat of the dummy, the head almost decapitates. I them kick the dummy to the ground, impressively, and jump on top of it and vigorously stab it over and over. Thats enough with the dagger, I grab the sword. I stand the dummy up again this time swinging the sword it takes off both legs and knocks it to the ground. I jump up in the air, sword blade head down, and as I land on the dummy, the sword impales it right where the heart would be. I drop the sword and grab one of the cut of legs, and start hitting it in the head with its own leg. Just for fun. Then the great finale, The Axe. The dummy is unable to stand due to its lack of limbs, so I stand where its, or Cameron might I say, and swing the axe up and demolishing an area that would be the dummies groin. I laugh out loud, so cynically and go for the last chop taking off the head.

I look up at the Game Makers who are all smiling and dumbfounded.

Camerons annoying-ness actually inspired me to destory, HIM.

"Wait till you see my in the arena" I call over to the Capitol representitives, the laugh and clap as I exit.

Bruce Brilles POV (Head Game Maker)

What. A. Day. Some great acts, worthy if high score and some utterly horrible ones, who don't deserve a score at all.

Although it was quite a good range of skills.

District One, the phenomenal Ethia blew us away with her dagger skills and agility, and Manga did a very impressive sword and strength demonstration.

District Two, we had Harmony show us her archery skills. She was a bit off, not like a regular Career, but was still rather okay. Although that was all forgotten when Valen took centre stage showing incredible work with axes. Throwing and all.

There wasn't much to see from Trixie in three, showing her knowledge of plants, which was quite poor. She pretty much spent the whole ten minutes crying muttering 'Declan'. Although Declan performed a semi-understanding of spears and pikes.

Wow. Jessie from four made a spectacular, flawless even performance, with an array of weapons, while her partner Cameron did quite a great job with his speed, strength and use of a machete.

District Five gave us an array of understanding to complete failure. Matilda did a pretty good piece with knowledge of plants and camouflaging, while using a knife to show survival techniques. And Robert sat there tying knots which probably wouldn't work.

Two extraordinary presentations from District Six, Alexandria and Blanke both showing above and beyond talent in speed while one used a mace, and the other a spear and axe.

District Seven didn't have much to show, they both, Lauren and Fly, tried to make it look like they knew what they were doing with a sword, but you could tell they had no clue. Although Fly showed a somewhat understanding of survival skills.

From District Eight, Jemima was spot of with her knowledge of flowers, plants and all things survival. Very, very intelligent young girl, will be a shame to see her perish. Levi, once again made a fool of himself, beginning showing a great demonstration with a sword, maybe the same side as him, but was then rushed to first aid because he cut himself with it. That child needs to know he is not top dog.

Isobel from District Nine, demonstrated a great knowledge of swords and survival whilst Oliver, another very smart cookie seeming very intelligible knowing more then I could ever learn.

District Ten showed us Xander and Mandel. Xander kind of failed the obstacle course. I kind of got there message he didn't give a rats ass about anything. Mandel made a nice shelter out of dried grass and sticks. Probably wouldn't have worked very well though.

From District Eleven, Exil and Florence weren't to exciting. Both attempting the obstacle courses, neither made it to the end of them.

Kyte from Twelve however, exceeded in absolutely outstanding skills with a mace and speed. The fastest tribute, by far. And Sue was surprisingly good with a bow and arrow managing to hit the target each time, just not the bullseye.
