Demi woke up in Joe's arms. She remembered what had happened last night, and she was awfully confused. She wanted to push him away, but at the same time she just wanted to...lay there. In his arms. She didn't know.

So she maneuvered out of his reach and got out of bed. She looked towards the door and back at her sleeping kidnapper. It was so easy. Too easy. Yet, she couldn't find herself to do it. She didn't know why. She figured it wasn't the right time.

For a few minutes, she sat on the floor. She didn't move a muscle and she just stared blankly at the wall although her mind was running a marathon.

"This is insane," She thought to herself.

"What the hell am I doing? I have to at least try to escape."

She wouldn't let herself move. She was frozen to the very spot she was sitting in. She was in a trance of confusion.

"God Demi, this is getting pathetic. You're fucking insane. Just because something happened last night doesn't mean he's a potential love interest! He's a criminal for God's sake!" She argued with herself.

She was unsure whether this man actually cared about her safety and well-being or if she was experiencing some sort of tragic case of Stockholm Syndrome. Either way, she was physically unable to move.

"Hey, why are you on the ground?" His sleepy voice shook her from her thoughts.

Demi looked up at her captor and shrugged. She felt so small. She held her knees to her chest - it was a habitual quirk when she was put into a stressful or mentally draining situation.

"Are you alright?" He asked as he rubbed his eyes.

"I've been better," She admitted.

"What's wrong?" He looked intently at her. As if he was trying to figure her out.

"Nothing. I'm fine." She stood up and started to look through her clothes.

"No..really. What's wrong?" He insisted as he got out of bed.

"Like I said. It's nothing you can fix," She said with her back to him. She was almost in tears.

He looked at her and sighed. "Let me guess. You're confused about last night."

She nodded slightly as she reluctantly turned to face him.

"I'm not gonna lie. I am too." He buried his face in his hands and then looked back at her.

"You don't know what to do?" She asked.

"Exactly," He replied.

She sighed and went back to looking for an outfit to wear as Joe stood there silently. She could tell he was thinking and she didn't want to disturb him.

Without saying anything to her, he grabbed a t-shirt and threw it on, along with a pair of sneakers, a hat and sunglasses.

Demi had decided on a simple black dress with an army green unbuttoned jacket over it with black boots. She lazily threw her blonde hair into a loose bun at the back of her head and clipped back her bangs. She wore a cross necklace that she found in the pocket of her uniform. Her mom had given it to her when she was young.

"We have to leave soon," Joe said quietly.

"Okay," She responded in a voice that was barely audible.

They didn't talk on their short trip to the car. Demi thought of making a run for it, but she didn't. She sat in the back of the car and didn't speak until they stopped for lunch.
