Chapter 4

Joe pulled the car over, to Demi's surprise. "Get in the back and sit next to Nick," He commanded.

Slightly frightened, she climbed into the back seat. Nick held a gun up behind her back, that way she wasn't tempted to try telling the officer anything.

Joe rolled down the window. "Yes officer?"

"Young man, you were going ten miles faster than the speed limit on this road."

Joe sighed and nodded as if he was actually sorry. "I'm so sorry officer, it won't happen again."

"I'm gonna have to see your ID but I'll let you off with a warning this time," He said.

Demi rolled her eyes slightly at the irony of the situation as Joe pulled onto the road again after showing his ID. "How the hell are you getting away with this?" She asked.

"Everyone in the entire world is a freaking idiot," Joe said bluntly.

"Watch your speed, we don't need to be put off track again," Nick said and Joe nodded.

We all sat in silence for a few minutes and I groaned, looking at Nick, "Can you please take the gun away from my back?"

Nick looked at Joe, who nodded and shrugged. Reluctantly, Nick pulled the gun away and Demi moved back to the front seat, which for some reason felt safer than the back.

She looked out the window in silence for a long time until Nick said, "I don't get it. Why don't we just blow her brains out?"

This concerned her and she shifted uncomfortably in her seat when Joe replied, "Nicholas, don't be rude. We're in the presence of a lady!" He chuckled and Demi didn't know whether to be relieved or even more frightened.

Demi looked out the window, sadly. What the hell did she do to end up being kidnapped? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. It was starting to get dark and she sighed, shutting her eyes.
