Val's POV-
"Really I would have never guessed that about you" I said shocked. "Yeah most people wouldn't." Me and Max were out on a date. He took me out to an upscale restaurant and although it wasn't exactly my taste, but I enjoyed being treated.
Me and him were talking about our high school years and how "wild" they were. He had just told me he was a short shrimpy kid with acne and no friends and honestly I couldn't believe him. "Ok I literally cant believe it, I mean look at you now all handsome and muscular and-" My words were cut off by his lips meeting mine. He deepened the kiss with deep passion. He pulled away and said "Why don't we take this to go?" I caught his message and nodded. He paid for the food and then we headed out.
When we got in the car, he reached over and stroked my face. I heard him faintly say "How could he hurt you?" "Who?" I asked. He looked a bit afraid and said "Uh, no one never mind." He quickly turned the other way and started the car heading to his apartment. The whole way there he kept a straight face and didn't speak nor look at me.
When we arrived at his house, he opened my car door and I walked out but he still didn't say anything to me. "Are you okay?" He looked at me and said "Of course, just got some things on my mind." He came to my side of the car and opened the door, but still still didn't look at me.
When we got into his house, he said "Make your self comfy, I'm gonna grab some wine." I nodded and he headed off to the kitchen. I sat my purse on the couch and took a seat. Everything in his living room was white and grey and looked very modern. "Hope you like red wine" I heard him call form the kitchen. "That's fine" I responded.
Across the room, I spotted a collection of pictures. I stood up and walked over to them. In the pictures there was younger version of him, about eight years old, with a woman and man. They were holding hands in the park and looked like they were having fun. To the side of them was a girl who looked a bit older, and oddly familiar, who was frowning.
"That's my mom and dad. They were killed in fire." I turned around and saw Max with his shirt partially open with two glasses of wine. "Those are my parents, they were killed in a fire." "I'm so sorry to hear that...who is the girl in the corner?" His eyes seem to fill with fire and his fist clenched. "She is my sister, she is the one who set the fire." Shocked by his response, I looked back at her. She looked so familiar and it was extremely creepy. "What's her name?" "Alexa."
When he said her name, my heart stopped. "A-A-Alexa?" I stuttered out. "Yeah...do you know her?" "Yeah me and her used to be best friends until I started dating Abel then she got jealous and we stopped being friends." When I said his name, my heart ached but I ignored the pain. "Oh, that's his name" Max said lowly to himself. "Excuse me?" I said a bit loudly. "Nothing, nothing. Why don't you have some wine and we can relax." I stared at him oddly but accepted his offer and sat down. I took one sip and the wine and relaxed my muscle. My body sunk into the couch and I took a few more sips.
Max sat next to me and put his hand on my thigh. "Ebony told me about you and Abel. I called him to ask what you like and what I should do for the date, but he just hung up." I turned around and looked him in eyes. "Did you really? Why would you do that?" "I just wanted to know what I should do and I had no idea either of you would get so emotional, from my understanding, you guys always fought." "We have fought often but I still loved him."
I said this with my head down and I could feel his stare. "Do you still love him?" I wasn't sure how to respond to this so I didn't say anything. "Do you?" I still wasn't sure what to say so I just kept my head down. "I said, do you love him?" When he said this, his voice was very loud and scared me a bit. I still held my head down but I felt his hands grip around my head and whip it up toward him. "I said, do you love him you little bitch?"
