"Mommy! Daddy! Look what I made!" I shouted with glee as I skipped through the front door of my family's dorm on the Ark.

When I entered the door, shouts filled my ears, "You are a piece of shit! You know that, Danny? Do you? Get the fuck out of here. I'm done with all of your crap. Get out!"

"Maria, please. Relax. Let's talk-" my dad started.

"If you don't get out in the next five seconds, I will call security," my mother sneered.

My dad walked past me as I held up my drawing of Earth that I made with Clarke. I quietly sneaked into my bunk bed and rolled up the drawing. I stuck it under my mattress with the rest of my drawings that nobody cared about. I grabbed a flashlight from a nearby drawer and crawled under my blanket to begin my homework. I heard my mom let out a frustrated sigh and her footsteps crept nearer.
I continued to work when the covers were ripped off and I was face to face with my mother.

"Get up," my mother ordered.

"B-but I have to do my homework," I pleaded.

"Get. Up," my mother sneered.

I obeyed her orders and climbed out of the bunk bed. I was almost as tall as my mother; I reached just below her eyebrows. My mother led me to the middle of the room and I stood there quietly. She disappeared in the back of the room and then re-emerged with a belt.

"Mommy, please don't," I began to cry.

She ignored my desperate pleas and inched closer with the belt in her hand. She stood a few inches from me before she began to beat me with the belt. I couldn't fight back. She was my mom for Christ's sake. Instead, I curled into a ball on the floor and took whatever she gave but still tried to make her stop with my cries.

"Mommy! Mommy, please stop!" I screamed.

"Athena, wake up! Wake up," my mother replied.

"W-what?" I whispered.

"Wake up, Athena," a more masculine voice came into focus.

When I realized I was dreaming, I instantly sat straight up in bed with my eyes wide open. My face was inches away from Bellamy Blake's worried one.

"Are you okay? I think you were having a nightmare," Bellamy stated.

I nodded, "Yeah, yeah. I'm fine."

"You want to talk about it?" Bellamy asked as he took a seat on my bed next to me.

"I don't-I don't know you like that, Blake. I'm not going to start revealing my deepest darkest secrets to you just because we trust each other," I sighed.

Bellamy let out a frustrated sigh."All right, Athena. I see how it is."

"What is that-" I began.

"Never mind. Anyway, have you seen Octavia?" Bellamy asked.

"She's probably chasing butterflies, Bellamy. She's a free spirit," I replied with a smile.

Bellamy shook his head. "No, she's not here. I've checked the camp almost five times. I don't know where she went."

"I'll help you find her, then. You go check the dropship and I'll check all of the tents. Meet back at the front gate in twenty minutes?" I suggested.

Bellamy nodded and patted my hand that laid on my bed. "Thank you, Athena."

I nodded and then Bellamy left towards the dropship. I checked the rest of the tents and on a few occasions walked into a few half naked delinquents. I checked all of the tents within fifteen minutes and for the last five minutes I interviewed some of the teenagers that were scattered around the front gate.

When Bellamy returned from his investigation of the dropship, he looked defeated.

"She wasn't in there. Monty and Jasper said they hadn't seen her in a while, too," Bellamy sighed.

"All right. Well, we're going to organize a search party. Gather up everybody," I instructed as I grabbed some of the spears and knives we've made in the past week.

Bellamy stood on a log in front of the gate, "Everyone gather around. Athena here has some weapons; grab one. My sister has been out there alone for about 12 hours. We're going to look for her and we're not coming back without her, understood?"

The delinquents lined up and I handed each a weapon and a few got some torches. When everyone was armed and ready, we began to head for the gate.

"Hey, wait. Look!" a delinquent shouted as he pointed towards the sky.

Above us were twinkling white lights falling from the Ark.

"They didn't work," I whispered.

"What didn't work?" Bellamy looked at me confused and then up at the lights.

"They didn't see the flares," Raven clarified.

"A meteor shower tells you that?" Bellamy questioned.

"No, it's not a meteor shower. Those are bodies being returned to earth. It's a funeral and this is what it looks like from the other side," I explained.

Raven marched up to Bellamy, "This is all your fault!"

"Raven, calm down. He knows the mistake he made. He has to live with that," I defended as I got between the two, stopping yet another fight.

Bellamy stared at Raven before instructing the delinquents to begin their search for his sister.

I turned to Raven. "Try to get the radio fixed, please."

"Fixed? The transmitter is smashed. I have nothing to replace it," Raven said with an annoyed look.

"Raven, you are the smartest girl I know. You once fixed a couple of old walkie-talkies we found with a paperclip and some foil," I smiled and pulled her into a hug, "Just relax. You can figure out what to do."

Raven returned the smile and hug. Then, I turned towards the group of delinquents that were slowly trickling out the front gate and followed them into the night. I caught up to Bellamy at the front and led the group through the forest.
