The Mute

Chapter 11

Micah's pov
Ms.Rose continued with the lesson constantly stopping and looking at me attentively. It was awkward but I decided to listen until my eyes wandered. I still heard Ms.Rose but I was staring at Hitomi.

Her hair covered her ear buds that she still had on and was looking down. "Hitomi may you read passage 1. Hitomi? Hitomi!" Yelled Ms.Rose. Hitomi looked up and found herself the center of attention. I smirked as her gaze met with mine.

I saw a tint of pink on her cheeks as she reluctantly looked away and said quietly, barely loud enough for me to hear. "Sorry.. I wasnt paying attention." A few snickers were heard here and there but Hitomi kept a cold face and went back to look down.

I noticed her open a book and flip a few pages, she took her pencil and wrote something. She then closed her book and looked up. I notice her take off one of her ear buds and actually listen to what Ms.Rose is saying. I looked back forward and listened to Ms.Rose as well.

Class was finally over. The noise of students chairs being pushed erupted as laughter were heard. I turned around and saw Hitomi stand up as well and leave silently. I turned to Beca as she smiled to me and walked off. Jet lifted his hand and said "See ya." And joined the crowd of students leaving.

One more class to go. I walked down the hallways and noticed Fern at the corner of my eye. "Hey!" I said while smiling brightly. She returned a smile and said "You smile a lot! I like that." I nodded as I laughed. "Gotta go!" She nodded and said "Un." I walked away and walked into the classroom.

I think this class is... biology? I shrugged and looked for an empty desk. I looked around and noticed Hitomi sitting in a desk with an empty seat beside her. This is the best class of all. I smiled as I was about to walk there until I felt someone staring at me.

I felt a presence behind me as I slowly turn around and saw a woman with red long hair and a tech kind of suit. 'Shoot! It's the teacher!' I thought. "Do you need to be punished for not coming yesterday?" The teacher whispered in my ear. A shiver ran up my spine as I looked at her weirdly.

I gulped as I said "N-No.." I heard her chuckle as she said "My name is Ms.Void." I nodded as I walked off to sit down. Not so much the best class but at least I have Hitomi. I sat down beside her. Hitomi turned to look at me and soon turned away.

The rest of the class was mostly Ms.Void talking about her problems and complain why she is married to a wimp. But she continued class and started on biology. One part of class she walked up to me and whispered in my ear "You should listen." I heard Hitomi scoff as she looked at me madly.

I looked at her confused because first of all she was the one who did it and not me! At the end of class she didn't even look at me! Whatever I did she was mad. Very mad.
