Abby sits down by the fire. Every time she sees a fire or really anything man made she thinks of Marcus. She bets he's angry at her for leaving. She just needed some time. The longer she's out here though, the more she's realizing she can be free out here.
Six months. That's how long she's been gone. Marcus and Callie have probably started a family by now. And where is she? Mostly alone. She's with a group of grounders. Grounders that have been banned from their tribe.
"Hey Chief, need some company?" A man said as he sat down beside her.
"I don't deserve company." Abby says as she throws a twig in the fire.
"Don't sell yourself short. You're not the bad guy." The man said as he stared into the fire.
"I know a couple of people who might think different." Abby said.
"If you are talking about Marcus and Callie...They don't think you're the bad guy. They realize what you did, you did to protect your people."
"But they don't think that. They hate me. Instead of overcoming my pain like they would have. I ran like a coward." Abby said.
"You don't know that they hate you. I mean you didn't exactly stick around to find out what they thought about you." The man said.
"No. But if there is one thing I know. It's Marcus and Callie. And trust me they definitely don't want to see me right now." Abby said.
"Abby. It's been six months. Go home. To your people."
Abby shook her head. "I can't. Not till I finished what I started."
"Abby this isn't your fight." The man said as he stood up, "These are my people, not yours. So please go home."
"Abby. None of this is your fault. I think you're scared. I think you're terrified that you will go home and Marcus will want to start a life with you. You're afraid that he'll be ready to love you." The man said.
"Terrence. It's not that I don't want to love him. It's-"
"You're afraid you're going to lose him. And you terrified that it's gonna be your fault." Terrence said.
"Just till we meet with Roan. And then I swear to you Terrence, I'll leave. I'll go back to him. To Arkadia. To my people." Abby said as she stood up to face him.
"Fine. But once we speak with Roan, you're gone." Terrence said as he walked to his room.
Marcus
Marcus is sitting in his quarters when he hears a knock on his door, "come in." He says as he takes another drink out of his cup.
"Chancellor." Callie greets as she walked over to him.
"Callie. What can I do for you?" He asked as he read over plans for Arkadia.
"Please. Go find her." Callie pleads as she sat down in a chair that was beside his.
"Why? So she can just run again? She always leaves me in the end. So why try?" He asked clearly sulking.
"Because you love her." Callie said as she stood up. "You've always loved her. Even on the ark." Callie shook her head as Marcus tried to ignore her, but Callie continued.
"That's you hated her. That's why you hated Jake-" Callie said.
"Shut up!" Marcus yelled as he stood up and slammed his fist on the table. "Don't pretend to know me Callie. Don't pretend that you know what I'm going through." He said sternly as he sat back down.
"You're right. I don't know what you're going through. But what I do know...you're pathetic and you may blame Abby for everything but kane." The use of his surname caught his attention. "You're the one who pushed her away." Callie said. She waited for him to say something but he said nothing so she walked out of the room.
Marcus looks at the papers on his desk and gets extremely irritated and throws everything off his desk. He calms himself down and and walks over to his map, "oh Abby....where are you?"
So this is chapter one....I know I said that I was going wait till I finished change of plans but since it's New Years where I'm at and since you guys have been so patient with me....I decided to publish this part!
