Summary:
Cousins Kale and Makana Kahale have always been friends, even when they were apart. A special connection binds them - they are born on the exact same day. When Kale is hurt, Makana has to step in and find a way to save him. The summer they are fourteen, Kale comes to visit Makana. He has to relearn everything that Hawaiians do, because he hasn't been there for so long. Then one day, a terrible accident happens and the only way to recover is to travel to another magical portal.
