Chapter 15 - What Mattered

Muling nagkagulo ang press. All eyes were on Aramis. Some even gaped at the sight of him. Each and every one of them were seeking for an answer. While, I was completely distracted that it made me speechless.

Tumayo ito mula sa pagkakaluhod nya at maayos na hinarap ang mga reporters. "Hey, everyone." He greeted them with his heart stopping smile.

The curiosity rose in the room as soon as he spoke up at mas lalong umingay ang press. I couldn't help myself but bite my lip. Aramis' sexy accent is like a spell that's meant to captivate anyone's heart. Bakit ba kasi gano'n?

"Ipagpaumanhin ninyo ang biglaang pagdating ko. My baby's so stunningly bewitching on the screen backstage that she was definitely luring me to come out. Kung kaya't hindi ko na rin talaga napigilan pa ang aking sarili." Natatawa pang sabi nito sa kanila.

"Ikaw ba ng bagong boyfriend ni Ms. Ashinyah Montenegro?" one of the reporters then queried.

Aramis then turned to him, still smiling. "Yes. And I'm proud that I am." He retorted swiftly and my eyes grew wide. Gusto ko sanang sumagot pero hinawakan ni Steffi ang kamay ko. She clearly looked really excited and happy about this.

"Hindi lingat sa alam ng karamihan kung gaano ang pasakit na kayang ibigay ni Ashinyah kahit na kanino. Matigas ang ulo. Pabalang kung magsalita. Wala itong kinatatakutan. Walang respeto. Masama ang ugali. Those are just understatements if one describes, my woman." Napashinghap ako.

Did he just call me his woman?

Everyone went silent. They didn't know on whether they would be surprised or be amazed by him. Kung hindi nga lang siguro gwapo si Aramis ay baka isipin pa ng mga ito na nababaliw na sya. However, kahit na maka-sabog ovaries pa ang mga ngiti na ibinibigay ni Aramis sa mga oras na ito, hindi maikakailang seryoso ito sa lahat ng sinabi nya.

"Hindi ako narito sa harap inyong lahat dahil sa gusto ni Ashinyah. I was the one who insisted. And truth to be told, I was the one who insisted on this relationship. I was the one who declared that we should be together." Confident pa din na sabi nya at mariin namang nakikinig ang lahat.

"Siguro nga ay napapaisip kayo kung bakit? Kung ano ang mga pwede o posibleng dahilan kung bakit o ito ginagawa. And the only answer that I can give you is, it's simply because she finds it hard for her to trust anyone again right now after what her ex did. And I am here," he trailed off.

Hinawakan ang kamay ko. I almost froze as soon as he did that. Not until, He looked upon me like, I was the most precious thing that he ever had in his life.

"I am here to prove to her that she can trust me. I will do whatever it takes or anything that I have to, to break all of the walls she built around herself. At araw araw ko rin syang liligawan hanggang sa masabi na niyang, pinagkakatiwalaan na niya ko ng buong-buo."

I was awed.

Kung hindi pa sisigaw si Steffi na tapos na ang conference ay wala pang magsisikilos. From then on, alam ko ng nakuha nya na ang atensyon ng media at paniguradong hindi na matatahimik ang buhay nya. That's what it means of being in the limelight, walang katahimikan.
