*Time skip to a few months and a few dates later*
Luke's POV
So you know how in our song Everything I Didn't Say, one of the first lines is 'Wait, don't tell me heaven is a place on earth'? To me, that's a lie. I found my heaven, my paradise, in Wren's soft brown eyes. Corny I know shut up.
After our little date with the Disney movies, I felt something just click. She's just perfect. Everything about her. Her smile. Her fairy dyed ends (that she had to redo because it faded). Everything. Today is the day I'm going to ask her to be my girlfriend. The day it hopefully, becomes real.
I had to go to the studio again today, and write the last couple of songs that we need to finish the album. Wren came too. We have one song started, and we called it San Francisco.
We complete that song and start the last one we need to complete the album.
"'I want a little bit of California, with a little but of London sky, I wanna take my heart to the end of the world, and fly away tonight.'" She sings. I nod and tell her that it's good.
After we finish the song writing session I take Wren back to her new house. She smiles and takes a deep breath of the new house smell. It still smells the way it did when she talked me into going with her to look at houses. I guess she went exploring the other day, because she lead me to a place that lead to the rooftop. She took my hand and we looked up to the star filled sky. Were we really writing that long? Oh well, this was the perfect time to ask the question. Still holding hands, I squeeze hers.
"You know, I've been meaning to ask you a question for a while." I say. She looks me in the eyes with a look of confusion and fear. I feel butterflies erupt inside and I feel my throat go dry. "I've been falling and falling until I fell for you," now here's the tricky part, "w-would you l-like to, uh, be m-m-my girlfriend?" Why the hell am I so stutter-y around her? Why am I so awkward?
"Yes I will. Lucas." She says. I laugh at the name. We aren't even official for two minutes and she comes up with a pet name for me.
*Time skip to Saturday*
I invited Wren over. She'll be here any minute and I'm freaking out. Do other boys my age feel this way when they invite their girlfriends over? Nevermind that I need to finish getting ready. I have food on the table and my piano is set in the lounge. Suddenly there's a knock at the door. I feel the color drain from my face and I feel butterflies. She's here.
I walk over to the door and look into the mirror on the wall beside it, making sure my quiff was good. I rolled the sleeves of my navy blue button up to my elbows and fixed my tie. Perfect.
I open the door and see a beautiful Wren with a navy blue dress and some heels. Her hair was perfectly straightened and she looked amazing. I took her hand and led her to the kitchen.
After eating we head into the lounge area. She sits down on the couch and I sit at the piano and start singing Piano Man by Billy Joel. Because it's 9:00 on Saturday.
It's nine o'clock on a Saturday
The regular crowd shuffles in
There's an old man sitting next to me
Makin' love to his tonic and gin
He says, "Son, can you play me a memory
I'm not really sure how it goes
But it's sad and it's sweet and I knew it complete
When I wore a younger man's clothes."
La la la, di da da
La la, di da da da dum
Sing us a song, you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright
Now John at the bar is a friend of mine
He gets me my drinks for free
And he's quick with a joke or to light up your smoke
But there's someplace that he'd rather be
He says, "Bill, I believe this is killing me."
As the smile ran away from his face
"Well I'm sure that I could be a movie star
If I could get out of this place"
Oh, la la la, di da da
La la, di da da da dum
Now Paul is a real estate novelist
Who never had time for a wife
And he's talkin' with Davy, who's still in the Navy
And probably will be for life
And the waitress is practicing politics
As the businessmen slowly get stoned
Yes, they're sharing a drink they call loneliness
But it's better than drinkin' alone
Sing us a song you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well we're all in the mood for a melody
And you got us feeling alright
It's a pretty good crowd for a Saturday
And the manager gives me a smile
'Cause he knows that it's me they've been comin' to see
To forget about life for a while
And the piano, it sounds like a carnival
And the microphone smells like a beer
And they sit at the bar and put bread in my jar
And say, "Man, what are you doin' here?"
Oh, la la la, di da da
La la, di da da da dum
Sing us a song you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well we're all in the mood for a melody
And you got us feeling alright
I play the last notes and ask what she thought.
"That was really good. I didn't know you listened to Billy Joel." She says in awe. I ask for requests and she says Little Things by One Direction. I start to play and she already has tears in her eyes.
Your hand fits in mine like it's made just for me
But bear this mind it was meant to be
And I'm joining up the dots with the freckles on your cheeks
And it all makes sense to me
I know you've never loved the crinkles by your eyes when you smile
You've never loved your stomach or your thighs
The dimples in your back at the bottom of your spine
But I'll love them endlessly
I won't let these little things slip out of my mouth
But if I do, it's you, oh it's you, they add up to
I'm in love with you and all these little things
You can't go to bed without a cup of tea
Maybe that's the reason that you talk in your sleep
And all those conversations are the secrets that I keep
Though it makes no sense to me
I know you've never loved the sound of your voice on tape
You never want to know how much you weigh
You still have to squeeze into your jeans
But you're perfect to me
I won't let these little things slip out of my mouth
But if it's true, it's you, it's you, they add up to
I'm in love with you and all these little things
You never love yourself half as much as I love you
You'll never treat yourself right darling but I want you to
If I let you know, I'm here for you
Maybe you'll love yourself like I love you oh
I've just let these little things slip out of my mouth
Because it's you, oh it's you, it's you they add up to
And I'm in love with you (all these little things)
I won't let these little things slip out of my mouth
But if it's true, it's you, it's you they add up to
I'm in love with you, and all your little things
By the very end she starts to cry. I walk over to her and hug her.
"That was beautiful. I truly loved it. Thank you." She says. I thank her and tells me she has to go home. She gives me a quick kiss and exits. I sit there wondering what to do next. I decided to go to sleep. That sounds like a good idea. I change into a pair of sweats and lay down on my bed. Slowly I drift to sleep.
