"One more time, mommy!" Seven-year-old Stephanie Ruzek squealed as they got off the ride. Kim smiled at her only daughter and looked at Erin, who was struggling to keep Alex, her six-year-old, from running off. "Alright, Steph. Let's go on this ride one more time, and then we'll do something Alex wants, okay?" She offered, as she grabbed her daughters hand. "Yay! Come on Alex, I'll race you to the line up!" She teased, making a face at her younger cousin. "You're on!" Alex laughed, letting go of Erin's hand and running towards Stephanie.Adam and Jay had decided that they wanted to take a fun day-trip to Six Flags Great America, which was only an hour drive away from them. Sure it was pricy, but none of them had ever gone before, and it seemed like a fun idea. The chaos of the families included six children, three kids from each family. It would be hectic to control six kids ages 6-14 in one of America's biggest amusement parks, which is why Kim and Erin were hesitant about the idea at first.
"Come on, baby. Just think about all the fun we'd have!" Jay had been trying to convince Erin all week that taking a family day-trip with the Ruzek's to Six Flags Illinois would be a fun idea. Although despite his hardest efforts, his wife was not on board, determined that spending an entire day at a huge amusement park with all six kids all day would kill them- even their three alone would be too much.
"Jay, do you really think that taking our teenage daughters and hyperactive son to the biggest theme park in Illinois is the best idea?" Erin raised her eyebrow at her husband. She was determined that it would not be a good idea- that there would be too many people and the kids would be overwhelmed. Jay knew that she was being a little paranoid, but refused to use that word, knowing that she'd have his head if he did.
"Yes! The kids love rides, and do Adam's." Jay explained, while removing the towel from his waist and slipping into his CPD sweatpants. Erin still wasn't convinced.
"C'mon baby...just sleep on it, okay? Then if you really don't want to go...we won't." Jay bowed his head and pouted, pretending to be sad. Erin only sighed, tucking herself under the cold sheets... when she got an idea.
"Well..." Jay's face lit up with hopefulness at the tone of her voice. "Maybe I'll give in to your 'idea'...if you do something for me..." She bit her bottom lip, it was his weakness.
"Anything, baby." The desperation in his voice drove Erin mad. She pulled some loose strands of hair behind her ear, taking great pleasure in driving her husband crazy. "Maybe if you...make these sheets a little less cold...if you know what I mean...maybe then I'll let you get your wish..." She giggled, knowing that Jay must be going crazy at this point.
Judging by the look on his face, she was right.
Jay didn't say anything, just smirked and crawled into bed beside her.
Alex's happy squeals pulled Erin out of her trance. She watched in delight as her son and niece laughed about something that she could only guess. "I'm glad they're having so much fun!" Kim exclaimed. "I know! And the best part is, they'll be so out of it tonight, Alex might even sleep through the night!" Erin added, recalling the countless early mornings she had been waken up by her young son, who was frightened from a recent nightmare. She had been growing increasingly worried for her youngest child, as the nightmares seemed to be consistent within the last few weeks. Both Alex's doctor and Jay had assured her that it would pass, but she still couldn't help but worry for her child.
She shook those thoughts of her mind as Kim spoke up again. "I can just imagine how the guys are doing with the older kids! I was surprised at first of how eager Adam had been with taking both our boys for the entire day!" She laughed, as her and Erin met up with their youngest children in the line of their favourite ride. "Oh boy, I could just imagine how Jay is dealing with the girls! Emma's got an attitude, and she's even worse with Olivia!" She laughed. "Wonder where they got that from." Kim smirked, earning a nasty look from her friend. "Wonder where Logan and Evan inherited their craziness from...Oh wait, that's right...they're their father's boys." Erin teased.
