Laissez Le Bon Temps Rouler
(Let The Good Times Roll)I walked out of the bedroom and stood at the top of the stairs. I could hear the music playing from downstairs as everyone was enjoying themselves in the ballroom. I thought I would be nervous but I wasn't. Marci stood in front of me and Langston stood on the side. I reached up and hooked my arm in his as we made our way downstairs. Each step brought anticipation of what was in store for the night.
We walked in and the ballroom reminded me of a street parade at Mardi Gras. The mysteries of New Orleans floated around as the band played Professor Longhair's, Go to the Mardi Gras with it's breathtaking piano intro.
Masks hung on the walls and the ceiling along with beads and feathers reminding one of Bourbon Street. Girls with masks littered the floor with men of all shapes and ethnicities. Some were old clients but quite a few were new. Everyone was having a good time while as Langston gave the que.
The band played the last few beats as everyone looked and stared. The leader walked up to the mic and introduced me.
"Ladies and Gentlemen I would like to introduce you to your host for the evening, Mistress Cadence."
He started clapping and so did the others. The pathway was cleared as I made the walk to the stage. The bright lights glared as the claps continued to echo through the room. I smiled like a Chester cat as if I was in a beauty pageant. Some of the girls had distaste written across their faces, while others cuddled with the men they were with. They almost seem... jealous.
Every man seem to follow my every move. I saw devilment in many of their eyes and hopefulness in some. Langston held on to me as Marci cleared the walkway. I felt confident and most of all I felt like a seductress. I knew I could have any man I wanted tonight. I finally made it to the stage.
"Welcome everyone to Chateaux Dijon. Tonight will be a night you will never forget. I want everyone to celebrate the magic that Chateaux Dijon possesses and of course the flavors of New Orleans. Without further ado Laissez Le Bon Temps Roulet. Let the good times roll!!!" The last part I said in perfect Cajun fashion.
From above confetti dropped from the ceiling and the music began to play. I laughed as everyone began to dance and party while some started second lining.
Langston helped me off the stage. "You did well, Mistress. Laissez la nuit commence."
I got off the stage and many men walked toward me. The wait staff were pouring champagne and cocktails and food tables surrounded the ballroom. The decorators had out done themselves for the evening. Miniature floats covered the tables in Mardi Gras fashion and beads of every color and ornamentation completed the decor.
"Mistress Cadence, this is Jean Luc Pierre, Marci said."
"A pleasure to meet you Mr. Pierre."
"Awe the pleasure is mine. You look very different than the first time I saw you."
He was checking me out. Mr. Pierre wasn't bad looking. He had the straight nose and the ridgit stance, I definitely was not interested. He continued to talk as more and more men vied for my attention. None seemed to interest me and I was getting bored. I continued to listen as they spoke about themselves. The names of men seem to blur as each one introduced themselves.
"Mistress Cadence, a gentleman left this note for you," Gabriel said reaching me an envelope.
"Excuse me gentlemen," I said walking away. A few more people stopped me before I made it to the parlor. I finally was able to squeeze between the large tall column and wall.
On the front of the envelope it read:
Mistress Cadence
Inside the note read
