Chapter 17

         8:37 am

Marisol sat in the same chair she did last night. Nicole still hasn't returned.

     'Where's my baby?'

Dominic came down the stairs, not even acknowledging his wife, walking into the kitchen. "Did Nicole come home last night?" Dominic called out, while he was cracking open the eggs. "No, she didn't. You know where she went?" Marisol wanted answers. Dominic knew she probably went to get some money, or maybe she went to a friend's house. All he cared about was her to get home and he can take care of his dick that was becoming hard.

          7:30pm

Marisol couldn't take it anymore. She invited her family to come over and help her find Nicole. She's been gone 24 hours. "Maybe someone took her." Marisol's cousin whispered to Marisol's sister. "I just want my niece home." Josefina answered back in a worried tone. Her niece meant everything to her.

"Nicole! Please call me back. Mommy wants you home now!" Marisol shouted with tears falling down her face. She couldn't handle this anymore.

Natahalia laid on her soaked pillow. Her tears were uncontrollably. She never stayed 24 hours away from Nicole like this before. This was her worst nightmare. "We'll find her, I promise." Nazir whispered in Natahalia's ear.

'He's trying to encourage me, but I can't stay positive.'

Nazir needed to distract Natahalia. Tv always brings some type of joy. Nazir grabbed the remote and turned on the tv flipped through the channel.

Fox News Chicago showed the police at the scene at a warehouse. "This is Faith Hull, live at the warehouse here on the west side. A female body was found her just a short time ago. We can say she is an African American female and maybe in her 20's. There will be a press conference, and when it occurs, we'll be the first to show it. This is Fox News, back to you, Mark."

Nazir quickly turned off the tv, but it was too late, Natahalia read and listened to everything. "What if that's Nicole?" Natahalia yelled. Now Natahalia was balling and her eyes? It looked like she had the pink eye. "Nattie, stay calm." Nazir pleade. "No!" Natahalia dashed downstairs.

Before Nazir could stop her, Natahalia had everyone's attention. "Mommy, they had found a body a while ago." Natahalia announced. Marisol's heart shattered into pieces. "Was there a description of the girl?" Natahalia's paternal uncle asked. "She was black and she looked like she was in the early 20's." Natahalia replied, wiping her tears off of her face.  "Marisol, it's time to report her missing." Elena said to her daughter.

Marisol knew her mother was right, but now she feared the worst even more. She had no hope in Nicole being alive. When she was thinking of Nicole last night, was that because she was dying?

Natahalia sat at the police station. The police officers and detective huddled around each other. They didn't want to tell Natahalia and Marisol that the description of Nicole fit the same one of the body found earlier. "Would you like us to see the body?" Marisol questioned. The detective nodded. "Please, follow me." The medical examiner said.

Marisol tried so hard to walk on her own, but she couldn't. Natahalia was here, so she couldn't just collasp like she wanted to. Natahalia held her nose, trying to block out the horrible smell in the room. So many dead bodies, it was sad. The medical examiner lead them to a table. He stared at them for a quick second before he pushed back the covers.

The feet were sticking out and Natahalia noticed them. They were identical to Nicole's. Already, she started crying again, she knew it was her sister. Marisol let out screams as she looked at her dead daughter. "Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh! Nicole! Nicole, baby wake up!" Marisol cried. She fell unto her knees holding herself. "I'm so sorry for your loss, ma'am." The medical examiner said with sorrow. "Her name is Nicole Dominguez." Natahalia told the medical examiner.

Elena held her daughter in her arms, she couldn't imagine what her daughter was going through. Losing Nicole is the worst thing ever. Nicole was Marisol's rock, her pride and joy. Marisol quit drugs for Nicole, Marisol worked hard for Nicole, but now that Nicole is gone, what will Marisol do?
