"To Thor and Wend! The new royal couple" he said smiling and drunk some of his wine. Everyone followed suite and sat back down at their seats

"And now Loki has to find one for himself too, maybe at the ball" Thor said smirking and winked at Loki, which got on Mer's nerves a lot but of course she didn't show it again

"I will when I will feel like it, brother. If that means, now, at the ball or in one hundred years" Loki said simply although Mer could sense the annoyance in his voice which only made her fake smile a little wider.

"Maybe Mer will find someone there right?" Loki asked and looked at her with a small triumphically smirk

"Maybe Loki, you never know what life gives and takes from you, do you?" She asked with a sarcastic smile in her face. If he really wanted to play like that she could give it to him easily

"No, no you don't Mer. Life is a surprise" he said and smiled fakely as he continued his food calmly even though he just wanted to take her and kiss her right that moment, scream how much he loves her and at the same time yell at her for being stupid last night

Mer was so annoyed she could slapped him the same moment he said that. It took all the self control to not pushed him again the wall and kick him. She continued her food silently, she actually thought about finding someone else. But then she looked at Loki and remembered all the things she loved in him, his smile, his laughter, his soft characteristics and generally everything about him. She then shook her head and looked back at her food as she continued eating.

After dinner when everyone finished their food, Loki approached Mer and signed as she placed his hand on her shoulder

"Can we please talk? I can't stand you being mad at me Mer" he said gently as his gaze met her eyes. Those eyes he adored with all his heart were now locked to his. Mer usually talked about magic, the stars was the only pure magic to her. Nothing else. But for him, oh for him her eyes were pure magic, her ordinary brown ones were nothing but ordinary to him. They were the most exquisite thing he had ever saw.

"Fine....meet me at the entrance of the dungeons in one hour" she said calmly and took his hand from her shoulder and let in fall on his side. She stood up and excused herself as she left and went to her room. She closed the door and took off her tiara and dress as she put on a silver nightgale. She checked the clock and smiled when she saw it was time to meet Loki, she took a breath and looked at her reflection. She was looking nice, simple but nice. She opened her door and got out of her room. She cautiously made her way to the dungeons to not get caught as it was forbidden to go outside from the tower and to another. Sometimes they were forbidding even going out of the room late at night, and especially the dungeons were forbidden to almost everyone except Odin and Freya. She signed relieved when she arrived at the dungeons without getting caught and a small smiled appeared on her face when she saw him.

"I am here, what do you want?" She whispered in a serious tone even though all she wanted was to hug him tightly and tell him how much she loved him. He turned and faced her, he smiled and came closer to her but not close enough I feel her breath

"I am sorry Mer, I am so sorry. I shouldn't have spoke to you like I did with morning. I shouldn't have become mad at you when you threw that grape. I shouldn't have yelled at you and tell you my life it's none of your business....because we both know it is and we both know that it will always be" he whispered gently and took her hands into his. He took a deep breath and prepared to admit his feelings. He had thought about multiple ways he could do it but none seemed right, so he just end up with telling her what he felt when she was around. When he opened his mouth a loud bang was heard from the other side of the corridor. They looked at each other and ran as a louf Boise continued hearing for some seconds. They kept running until they were at another corridor and caught their breath, they didn't even understand they were holding hands that long

"What was that? It sounded so....close, so scary" she said and took a breath as she looked into his eyes, she didn't let go of his hand. She was a little scared for the first time of her life, she felt threatened.

"Yes, it was....I don't know what it was though....and we can't report it because it's illegal to be out of our rooms that hour. I just hope the guard's saw or heard it" Loki said and took a breath, he signed and looked at Mer. He hoped that she could forgive him and be best friends again, at least

"Yes, I hope the same too.....and I forgive you Loki, I know you were just upset but...with what?" She asked gently as she put her hand on his cheek. She loved him so much, she wanted to pull him closer, kiss him until they both were out of breath but she just couldn't, she just wouldn't.

"I just....it's nothing to worry about Mer, just me and my stupidity" he said and chuckled and he kissed the back if her hand softly and took it in his. She nodded smiling widely, her smiled caused one to form on his lips too. He loved it when she smiled, her face was instantly lighten up and became even more pretty, if that was even possible.

"Let's get you back to your room. And there is no way I am leaving you to go alone" he whispered gently and walked her until the door in a comfortable silence. The towers after midnight were always peaceful, Mer always believed that in times like those reality is alternative. She opened the door quietly and kissed his cheek

"Goodnight Loki, see you in the morning" she whispered softly and got inside her room closing the door behind her

"Goodnight Mer and be careful.... I will look forward to it" he whispered quietly so none could hear him, not even her. He cautiously walked back to his room and changed into his golden pj as he lied on the bed tired. He thought about what happened today and smiled, maybe he could tell Mer about his feelings but then again it would be weird as they were best friends. He signed, maybe he would tell her, but maybe in another time
