Victoria tuned out Crowley's banter, she couldn't stop staring at the blood that was seeping through her best friend's shirt. Hemlock's whole body just went limp. He was gone. Victoria started to remember all the times they spent together.
"'Hey hemlock let's get married one day.'
'Only if we don't find anyone else. And I call proposing to you!' The pair smiled at each other. Hemlock held his best friend's hand. 'Well, I can't wait any longer. Victoria, will you marry me?'
'Yes!'"
Victoria felt tears stinging her eyes, they planned their future together. Hemlock wanted to be a civil rights lawyer, they were going to move in. Get a pet, grow old together. All of that was going to hell. Literally.
Crowley snapped his fingers in front of Victoria's face, she shook out of her thoughts and looked at the man who just murdered her future. Crowley just smiled, "So tomorrow, your act of duty will start."
"I will not be doing anything." Victoria gritted her teeth, this man was not going to force her to do anything.
"You have no other options."
"Oh, I do have options. You know how powerful I truly am. I don't know yet, I don't even know to control it. I'm a ticking time bomb and, honey, times run out." A strong wind began to pick up and everything was swirling around.
The rope tying up Victoria began to disintegrate. Victoria floated off the ground as her eyes became a deep shade of crimson. The flames matching her eyes as they surrounded the room. Victoria raised her hand, causing Crowley to levitate off the floor. His demon powers were no match against Victoria's wrath.
Hot rope wrapped his body, leaving Crowley to scream for mercy as his vessel's flesh was being torn away by the scolding, twisting rope. Victoria knew this wouldn't last for long, she snapped the demon's neck. Everything slowly calmed down, she could feel her body's energy leaving her.
Victoria looked up, the room was scorched, except Hemlock's body. He was untouched. She slowly approached the body as if Hemlock would jump and scream, 'Gotcha!'. But none of that happened. She gently caressed Hemlock's face. He's gone...
"I remember saying yes all those years ago. Now Hemlock, please give me a yes now... Are you still here?"
Nothing. Silence, not even a flutter. Victoria ever so slowly unwrapped the rope from Hemlock. Hemlock felt weightless when she carried him bridal style. As Victoria walked out of the room, she noticed other demons. None dare stepped closer to her. They all looked terrified.
Victoria walked straight out of hell. Once she left the goddamn place, she collasped to the floor. No one around her to comfort her. Victoria sobbed into the limp body. She sniffled and remembered the last time one of them were crying like that.
Before she could get lost in her memories, she heard footsteps approaching her. Victoria looked up and saw a woman. She seemed like any other normal human being, except she gave off this strong and powerful aura.
"Hello, I am here to retrieve your friend. The one you have in your arms at this moment, Hemlock. I'm a reaper. I already know who you are. It's actually an honor I get to meet you. You made a big fuss in the world. Powerful. You two remind me of a pair I used to know. Beautiful souls, might I add, just like his," The woman paused and looked at Hemlock, "They needed each other more than the Earth needed the sun. Partners in crimes, brothers."
"Your name."
"You can call me Tessa."
"I'm ready to let go, Tessa."
Tessa's eyes widen as her face showed surprise. She looked around as if Victoria's words were a trap and she was the next victim. Tessa stepped forward to reach towards Hemlock, a bit of doubt still in her as Victoria still clung tightly to the body.
"I'm serious, Tessa. If we are anything like those brothers," A smile creeped up on Victoria's face, "He'll be back soon enough."
