You were packing your bags for home. You had been on a number of missions for the past few weeks, and it had exhausted you to the bone. You were just slinging your bags around your back, when Steve Rogers, your boyfriend, walked in.
'Hey (Y/n)? I got a favour to ask.' He said slowly,'We-I mean, I need you to come in for another mission.'
You gave a loud, exasperated sigh.' Steve, I've been on a lot of missions over the past few weeks. I need a break. You know that.'
Steve gave a long sigh through his nose.'I know, I know. But this is the last one, I promise. I'll even take a break with you, if you want.'
You looked at him, interested.
'Do you promise?' You asked.
'I swear. On my life.' Steve grinned. He knew you were definitely coming now.
You wrapped your arms around his neck and kissed him.' Then what are we waiting for? Just one last mission.'

You rolled away from the sound of guns firing, taking cover behind the wall. The team were heavily outnumbered, with you defending yourself alone against at least 30 HYDRA agents.
'(Y/n)! Report back to to jet now!' Steve's voice barked in your earpiece.
'I'm kind of busy over here!' You said back, firing randomly at your opponents
'I'm serious, (Y/n)! Tony's rigged a bomb at the base of the building. It's gonna blow up in a few seconds. You need to get back to the jet.'
'Okay, okay, I'm on my way.' You fired the last of your bullets and flipped over the remaining HYDRA agents.
'Well, as fun as you guys look, I have a plane to catch.' You picked your way over the dead, slowly making your way out.
'(Y/n), where are you? The jet's taken off, we're looking for you.'
'I'm on my way.' You spotted the jet flying around, and waved to them.
'I'm right-' Your voice was cut off by the sound of an explosion ripping through the building.

When the Avengers picked their way through the rubble, they found your body under a concrete slab.
'Oh, God,' Tony said. Steve choked on a sob.
'I promised this would be her last mission.'
