I know its cliche buuuttt....
The Avengers were making one of their many attempts to lift Thor's hammer. And horribly failing of course.
Tony strained to lift it, sweat beading on his forehead. He even went to fetch a new-and-improved Hulkbuster fist to try and lift it. Even then he failed.
'Okay I give up. I'll never be able to lift that thing.' He said, panting.
Next it was Clint's turn, who absentmindedly tried and failed to lift it with one hand.
Natasha, as usual, declined to lift it ,with a lazy wave for Bruce to give it a try.
Banner, along with Wanda and Sam, failed to lift it, with the two younger Avengers walking away from the room in a huff.
Lastly, it was Cap's turn, much to the nervousness of Thor. He walked over to it and wrapped his fingers around the handle. Thor once again saw the hammer move a tiny bit before the Captain gave up, smiling good-nature day.
Thor was going to mock the others once again when a young girl walked in. She was a new recruit for SHIELD.
'Hi guys, um, I saw what you were doing through the door and, I wanted to ask.... Could I maybe give it a try?' She said nervously.
'Of course,' Cap answered before Thor could, giving the girl a helpful smile.
'By all means.' Tony said dryly. Thor looked at the two and nodded at the girl to try her luck.
She gave a small smile to Thor, stepping in front of the hammer. Her hand stretched tentatively forward, and grasped the handle firmly.
She lifted the hammer clean off the table and earned the same reaction Vision had.
The Avengers stood, dumbfounded, for a few minutes. Even the girl seemed shocked. Then Tony let out a loud groan.
'At this rate, I'll be the only one who can't lift the goddamn hammer.'
Steve laughed. Natasha grinned. Clint and Banner stayed dumb.
Thor looked at the girl, making her blush. He stretched out a hand. 'May I have my hammer back, maiden?'
She nodded and handed the hammer to him, still looking shocked.
'What is your name, my lady?' Thor asked.
The girl smiled widely. '(Y/n).'
