I sat in an empty Great Hall, holding a piece of toast in my hand. The door swung open and a short teacher I was unfamiliar with strolled in. I could hear him humming to himself as he walked in with a sleepy smile on his face. When he got to the grand table at the front, he suddenly became aware of my presence.
"Oho! And why is a young girl like yourself up so early?" He said looking at me curiously.
I smiled, "I really couldn't sleep."
"Ah! Too nervous about the first day of classes?" He asked as he scooped food on to his plate. I noticed their were a few other students who were sitting around the Great Hall now, but they paid no attention to us.
"Something like that." I said. I had tossed and turned all night with his words playing in my mind and now matter how much I tried I couldn't recognize his voice either. Maybe I really never had met him before..
Lost in my thoughts, I jumped a little when the professor asked me what my name was.
"Rose Evans, sir, and you?" I asked politely.
"Rose! I'd been hoping to see you! How could you forget me? I had been your favorite teacher here during your first year!" He said smiling. I looked at him for a good minute before I loudly yelled,
"Professor Flitwick!" I exclaimed. I noticed some people who had come in shoot me some nasty glares from being so loud in the morning.
"In the flesh." He said, smiling happily.
"It's nice to see you again, sir." I said.
"Same with you, Ms.Evans, now let's finish our breakfast, shall we?"
I nodded smiling, and turned back to look at the rest of the hall. The tables were filling up and I noticed a dark haired boy sitting a few seats down from me, picking at his meal - almost in a worried expression. He looked up too catch me staring and he brightly smiled, exposing shining white teeth. He was rather handsome in the face too, black hair that framed his grey-ish eyes. A fair complexion with a few blemishes.
I smiled back and quickly looked down, not interested in meeting anyone new at the moment. I had come to a conclusion that the boy last night was truly warning me to be careful. I just had no idea to be careful with who, or what. Or could it be possible it was just some one's idea of a prank?
I internally groaned in frustration as i argued with myself weather or not I should tell someone about what happened last night.
I thought about telling Dumbledore, but figured he had more than enough on his mind. I could tell Harry.. but I didn't want him to worry. He was already depressed at the moment because no one believed him about the return of Voldemort.
I, myself, would not have believed him if i had not been a death eater at the time.
That was pretty much it, it was a rather short list but those were all the people I trusted. I couldn't confide in Hermione or Ron because they would just end up telling Harry.
I finally noticed that all the teachers were sitting at the staff table now and my lone piece of toast was still sitting on my plate. I sat there looking at it and figured I couldn't really stomach it right now.
I leaned back to stretch myself out a little, I had been sitting here for an hour or so, when I gasped out loud. Pain swallowed my back and I was biting my lip to stop from screaming. A memory flashed through my eyes,
It was best to get out of here as soon as possible, I started fast walking in the direction I had come, when suddenly some invisible force threw me back.
