Black.
Never ending blackness was all I saw the moment I realized I was awake.
Grasping the white sheets beneath me I realized I was in a bed, it occurred to me that this was one of the several times I'd have woken up and had no idea where I was.
"Woaaah, Rose calm down," a familiar deep voice said, "It's just me, Harry?"
My vision readjusted and I looked up, it finally dawned on me that I was in Hogwarts hospital wing. I looked straight ahead at Harry and a large smile broke out on my face, as he grinned back, rushed over and squeezed me (in what I think was an attempt at a hug).
"I heard what you did, I was so worried Rose," he said, his smile fading a crease folding on his headache as he thought, "Don't ever do that to me again."
I smiled and laughed a little, "I'm sorry Harry, I had too but I'm okay now, it's all going to be okay now!"
He smiled and hugged me again, "I have so much to tell you,"
And suddenly Harry's smile broke, and the life went out of him like a popped balloon.
"Harry? Harry what's wrong? What happened?"
"He's dead," my brother said as he looked out the window above me, his green eyes sad, dark and wet.
"Who's dead? Come on Harry talk to me!" I said a little more frantically than needed.
Harry took a deep breath in and said, "Sirius, and it's all my fault."
With that the boy who lived broke, laid down on my shoulder and started crying.
******
I sighed as I watched the dark clouds rolling by through the window, it was about to storm; the sky could tell you that much.
Harry had left an hour ago, after I did my best to comfort him and by my best I mean I patted him on the head a few times.
I don't know why I didn't feel sad about Sirius's death, after all he was my godfather too. It made me feel like a horrible person, that I couldn't shed one tear for the man who never judged me, and let me into his home. Maybe it was because I never truly got to know him like Harry did, maybe it wasn't all my fault.
I was watching lightening flash through the sky when suddenly the man I had been waiting to see came strolling to the room; same as always, his blue eyes were twinkling and a smile on his lips.
"Come to say congrats on not dying Dumbledore?" I said smiling.
"Actually on the contrary, Ms.Evans, I wasn't fully expecting your death."
"Oh please, there is absolutely no way you predicted that one!"
He shrugged and smiled, before looking at me solemnly and saying,"So you heard? About Sirius?"
I sighed, "Yes."
He looked at me a for a moments before saying, "Everyone grieves differently, Ms.Evans, don't feel too bad about it."
I looked up at him in half astonishment and half amusant, "How do you always know how I'm feeling?!"
He laughed, "Call it a gift."
I shook my head at him, "Of course."
"Ah speaking of gifts," Dumbledore said as he reached into the inside of his robes and pulled out a small, long wooden box and stretched it towards me.
"Is it a carrot?" I asked sarcastically, taking it.
Dumbledore shook his head and sighed, "But you're close."
I laughed and opened the box, I gasped in happiness as I saw a 11 inch thin wooden wand laying in wrapped velvet.
"Bloody hell Dumbledore, thank you so much! It's way better than a carrot!"
His blue eyes twinkled as he smiled, "You're quite welcome. The wood is oak and it contains one single piece of unicorn hair, quite unique according to Olivander. I'm actually glad you destroyed your old wand, I didn't like how powerful it was."
"Neither did I, to be honest, it felt evil in a way. I don't know how to explain it... but I think I committed too much evil with that wand. Thank you so much for this new one, it'll be used for good this time I promise." I said sincerely.
Dumbledore smiled, "I know it will, but Rose now on to more serious discussions, you clearly know about Voldemort's horcruxes?"
"Yes of course, wait but you mean horcrux right?"
Dumbledore shook his head gravely, "He made 7, I believe."
Oh you've got to be kidding me.
"But wait how? Why? Wait what?!," I cried in alarm.
"I think the more important question is what were going to do it about it, this summer I need your help to get a few things that will allow me to confirm my theories. School ends in a few days and I don't think you have anywhere else to be?"
I smiled, "Sounds like an adventure sir."

One week later and I was standing underneath the light blue sky that contained some fluffy white clouds, on the platform staring at the Hogwarts Express.
I had decided to keep my coming back a bit of a secret except from Harry, Hermione and Ron who all swore they wouldn't say anything especially since knowing I was alive could put them in grave danger. Dumbledore had told me that my body had been dropped on the steps of the castle in the middle of the night, most likely by death eaters who were too stupid to check my pulse. It was quite a great advantage for Lord Voldemort and his followers to think I was dead.
"Hey Rose! There you are!" I heard Harry's voice shout, not too quietly.
I turned around and saw him running towards me in the large mass of people, I wore a hood to keep my face covered but Harry could recognize me even if I had taken polyjuice potion.
"Harry!," I exclaimed as he reached me and pulled me into a great big hug.
"I still don't understand why you aren't staying with Ron at the Burrow," he said in a questioning tone, once again trying to figure out what I was hiding from him.
"I told you, I have some very important things to take of this summer and then when school starts, I'll be here."
"Ugh, I mean, are you sure you can't tell me? I could help!"
I smiled,"I'll tell you everything when I get back, I promise."
He frowned but sighed just as the doors on the train started closing.
"Go!" I said, "I'll be fine!"
He sighed heavily before he started running to the train, just before he got on he looked back and yelled, "Be careful!"
"Always!" I shouted back just as the doors closed and the train sped off.

Walking through the empty castle was almost sad in a way, the air was still warm from the presence of all the students.
The floor beneath made me a small tapping noise as I walked through the hallways towards Dumbledores office.
Giving the gargoyle the password (cherries), I stepped inside and found myself knocking on the door of the office.
"Enter." Dumbledores voice called out.
I walked in looking at the piles of books on his desk and took a seat across from him.
"It's so strange being in the castle when it's so empty," I remarked.
Dumbledore smiled, "Extremely different indeed."
I sighed, "So are you going to tell me exactly what we're going to do this summer?"
Dumbledores blue eyes twinkled, "Well before we get to that, I have a few questions to ask you. Are you coming back to school next year as a 6th year student?"
I shrugged, "I don't know, maybe, it's as if fate doesn't really want me here and the student body doesn't really miss me either."
He sighed as he continued,"Its your decision, but I urge you too consider coming back."
"How would I explain it? Just coming back from the dead? Especially to Chase and Liam, they seem so happy without me in their lives."
"On the contrary, I've never seen two boys so sad. After you left, they focused on nothing but finding you which of course is kind of hard to do when you're in school," Dumbledore replied.
I sighed,"I'll think about it."
Dumbledore smiled brightly, "Excellent, that's all I wanted to hear."
I rolled my eyes, "Of course sir, so now what exactly are we doing this summer?"
He smiled a little dimly, "I think I may know where one of the horcruxes is, and I need your help to destroy it."
"We're hunting down horcruxes?!"
He nodded, "I completely understand if you don't want too, I can arrange your passage to The Burrow instead."
I shook my head immediately, "No I want to help!"
"Remember Rose, you're going to have to listen to me, if I tell you to run or hide or to leave me behind, you will do as I say. Okay?"
I didn't say anything hesitating, I couldn't just leave Dumbledore if anything was to happen.
"Rose do you understand?"
I groaned a little before I sighed and said, "Yes I understand."
