My Hometown

Science Project

The next day of school wasn't as bad.  Hunter and I ignored each other as if we had never met.  But then again he never talked to anyone really.  It was lunch time and I was considering going home for it.  I was allowed to do that and I could always drive back.  I went to the Cafeteria to see if they had any good food.  Taco Tuesday.  I had never really like tacos anyways.  I started walking to my car when a group of people stopped me.

"Hey, Cora right?"  Said a blonde girl in the group.

"Yeah."

"We were wondering if you want to sit by us."  The smile on her face was nothing but friendly.  

"Sure I guess."  We walked over to a table.  Everyone seemed to be close friends.  They were all very nice so I decided not to leave them.

"Hey Cora, where did you move from?"

"Florida.  By the way you guys should introduce yourselves.  I don't know any of your names."

"I"m Justin." Said the guy who asked me where I moved from.  "That's Violet, Carter, Lindsey, Paige, and Zeke."  He said pointing around at everyone.  "Florida seems like a cool place how is it?"

"It's the best.  The beaches are beautiful.  I loved my old school.  It was kind of sad moving here but it's not a terrible place."  I said wishing I was back in Florida.

"You don't need to lie Cora.  This place is probably nothing compared to Florida.  Everyday I wish I could leave."  Said Paige.  

"Come on Paige it's not that bad.  I just wish I could go to Rhode Island."  Said Zeke

"That's because your dad and sister are there.  Does your sister even know you exist?"

He shrugged glumly.  "I wish I knew."  "I'll be back in a minute."  I said and walked away not sure where I was going.  I slumped down in the corner of the cafeteria.  Away from almost everyone else.  I didn't feel so good.  I didn't feel like I was going to throw up really but I left just in case.  I opened my phone and found an Instagram notification from Hunter.  I opened it up.  

Hey this is Hunter.  I was wondering what you're doing after school.  It's fine if you are busy. 

Probably homework or something.  I don't really have anything planned.  Why do you ask?

We kind of need to work on the Science project some time.  So I was thinking we could start it early.  You know so we can get it out of the way.

Yeah that sounds good.  Meet in the library?

Sure see you them.

I closed my phone.  Man Hunter wanted to start that project early.  It was just assigned today and Ms. Corwell assigned us as partners.  I looked across the hall to see Hunter leave the cafeteria.  I guess we could've just talked in person.  Oh well.  

A little after that the bell rang and I had to head to AP physics.  The class was a bore as always. Zeke was in the class with me which made things a little better since I knew him.  I figured out his full name was Zeke Rivera.  I got through that class and the next and the next until English.  I had English with Justin, Carter, and Violet.  It was also nice to have some classes with them.  When the bell rang and I was dismissed I went to my locker and met up with Hunter in the library.  

"Hey.  So I'm thinking that we should have our science project on pollution.  We could do water pollution such as oil spills and how it affects the sea life."  Hunter said.

"That's a good idea."  I especially liked it because of the whole water beach thing.

"Okay so we are going to need a model, an essay, and a presentation."

"I'll do the model if you want."

"Sure.  I'll start the essay."  He said and then walked over to the computers.  I needed a good model idea.  Like a turtle stuck in some trash?  I don't know.  I have an idea, I thought.

"I'm going to go to the art room for some supplies."  Hunter nodded and I walked off.  I grabbed some supplies.  Of course some of the stuff that I had at home might have worked better but I could get those later.  I started painting and putting things together.  Before I knew it time had flied by and I was halfway done with my model.

"Alright I think that is enough working for today.  I mean we still have another week."  Said Hunter.

"Okay.  You want to go get something to eat before we head home?"

"Sure but I don't have a car so I don't think that'll work..."

"If your fine with it we can just drive in my car."

"Sounds good.  Where do you want to go?"

"I'm kind of thirsty.  Maybe smoothies?"

"Kieva Juice it is."  We put away all our stuff and headed to the car.

"Smoothies here we come."
