"What is it?"
He looked around checking to see if anyone was watching. But the hall was empty.
"Can I show you a place?"
"And skip study hall?"
He nodded.
"You, of all people, want to skip?"
"Yes. Study hall isn't that important. So is it a yes or what?"
"Okay fine."
"Just wait for the bell to ring."
We waited another minute until it finally rang. When the hall started filling up with people Hunter grabbed my arm and I followed him. We walked a while and turned more corners than I thought the school could have when we came up to a door. It had a panel so you could type the code and open the door. Logan typed 278930 and the light above it turned green. He opened the door and we walked inside. The room was pitch black so we got our phones out and used the flashlight. He led me down a few more hallways and then he stopped in a pretty big room. Hunter fumbled around for the light switch and found it. It was almost blinding. When my eyes adjusted I took in my surroundings. There were a few couches in different places. The was a large table on one side of the room. The room looked like it had been abandoned. There was dust everywhere.
"Wow. What...?"
"Let me explain. I got the code from Russel a few years back when he was a senior. I'm not sure how he got it but whatever. He showed me this room. I've only been here a few times since then but I thought I could show you. I'm not even sure if the principle even knows the code. I haven't seen anyone go down this way in years. It's unknown. There are more rooms I could show you another day. But this is my favorite. Watch this."
He walked over to what looked like a table covered with a blanket. Hunter pulled the blanket off and it revealed a control panel. Hunter messed with a few buttons. We looked up and the roof was moving in revealing a crystal clear glass. It was a skylight I could see the blue sky and clouds.
"I've always wanted to come here at night and see the stars. But the school is usually closed and that's intruding so I haven't."
"Well I don't know you're ditching right now. Can we hear the bells from down here?"
"The bells are turned off down here so no. But I'm watching the time don't worry."
"Ok sounds good. This place is so cool. Sometime after school you should give me a tour of the whole place."
"Oh. Yeah that could take some time. There are like two floors down here. I'm pretty sure it used to be where some of the clubs met."
"Nice."
"Hey Cora I was wondering if you want to go the dance with me."
"Like as a date?"
He nodded.
"Okay."
"Awesome. Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. We could go dressed as something that goes together. Salt and pepper, peanut butter and jelly," He went on for a while bringing up what we could get dressed as.
"Well you're excited about Halloween."
"Yeah it's really great." He pulled out his phone. "Dude the bell rang 2 minutes ago we should hurry."
We both grabbed our bags, turned off the lights, and ran out.
