A/N: Back to Cora's point of view
I wanted to scream. I wanted to roll up into a ball and cry. I wanted to punch Caden and tell him how stupid he was. But most of all I wanted to go over to the hospital bed and give him a kiss on the forehead and hug him. Wait... no I didn't. What was going on in my brain?
I looked down avoiding Caden and pretending he didn't exist. Hunter whispered soft and comforting words into my ear but some of them were questions. He obviously noticed I wasn't doing so good, but he didn't know why.
I avoided eye contact from everyone but tried to act like nothing was going on. I knew both Hunter and my mom would be questioning this, and so would Caden's parents. When we finally left I practically sprinted out of the hospital. I needed to get as far away from that as possible. Hunter ran after me and grabbed my shoulder, making me stop and face him. "What was that about? Are you okay?"
"Yeah I'm fine, great in fact. I just remembered that my friend has a party she invited me to, and if I'm not there for at least half an hour I'll feel really bad. So I better hurry." That was a complete lie, but at this point i didn't want to try to explain the whole story to him. I made a silent promise to myself that i would tell him... eventually.
He gave me a concerned look, but finally broke eye contact. "Okay, should I just ask for a ride home from your mom?" I didn't think about that, but I guess I could give him a ride home. "No, I can take you, we just have to hurry." We ran over to my care and started the engine. I quickly texted my mom, telling her that I was going home, and then started driving to Hunter's house.
"So..." Said Hunter. "I guess that we have to bail on our date."
"I'm sorry Hunter, I promise I'll make it up to you, after I figure things out." I said reluctantly.
"Figure what out?"
I mentally kicked myself for saying that. "Look, I explain it to you later, I promise."
I pulled into his driveways and stopped the car. "Goodnight Hunter."
"I'll see you Monday I guess." He replied with a sad expression.
"Yep, science."
I drove away and went back to my house. I ran up to my room, pulled out my phone and started watching videos of cute dogs. It calmed me down. I also brought out my secret stash of sweets and started chowing it down. Before I knew it, I was fast asleep.
