He laid in his bed, beads of sweat covering his body. His face crinkled as if something was hurting him. "GASP!" The boy was sitting upright in his bed panting as a stream of red hot tears ran down his face. "Sans! Sans!" The door slammed open as the one presumably known as Sans rushed into the dark bedroom. "Papyrus?!" Sans, in his alarmed state, took to examine to scene he was faced with. His 10 year old brother sitting upright in his bed in a red onesie weeping into his hands. "Papyrus?" He walked over to the sit in front of the sobbing child. "What's wrong, kid? Did you have a bad dream?" Papyrus cried harder. "Papyrus, look at me." He continued his sobbing. "Papyrus. Papyrus."
Sans pried Pap's hands from his face to force him to look at him. "What's wrong?" More tears threatened to spill. "Please?" Papyrus stuttered. "I-I yo-you," a look of horror plastered on his face as he tried explaining. Sans brought him into a big hug and rocked them back and forth. "Shhhhhh, it's alright, Paps. You don't have to. It's gonna be alright." Broken sobs racked his body as he hugged Sans tight. "You died, Sans! You died and I couldn't save you!" Papyrus squeezed him harder. "I don't want you to leave me!" Sans shushed him and continued to rock them. "I'm not going anywhere, alright? Nothing is gonna happen to me." Anger filled Papyrus and he shot yo from his brother's grasp. "But what if something does! It's my job to protect you and if something happens, then-" "Since when did it become your job to protect me?" Papyrus looked away, refusing to answer. A sigh escaped the older skeleton. "Look Paps, nothing is gonna happen to me and nothing is gonna to you." "But what if-" "But nothing, paps. I'd never let anything happen to you. And as long as you're okay, I'll be okay." Papyrus looked up. "You promise?"
"Promise"I opened my eyes to face the ceiling of my bedroom. The dreams, or rather, memories have not stopped reenacting before my eyes ever since the incident two days ago. And in that time period, I've done nothing, but wander around the house reminiscing. My eyes close as I recall the memories. They're happening everywhere. However, the ones that hit the hardest are his promises. He promised he wouldn't go anywhere. He promised that as long as I'm okay, he's okay. But I'm not okay. Does that mean?...I shake away those thoughts, but they still make their way back up. What if something happened to him? Is that why he hasn't come back? Or is it because of...me?
I jump out of bed and get dressed as fast I can. I rush down the still tattered stairs and stint into the woods. What if he met with a human? Did he get hurt in the fight? The mangled trees are speeding past me. What if some monsters took advantage of him and left him for dead? I can feel the anger rolling off my body. What if he doesn't want to come home? A scream erupts. The trees are taunting me with their twisted limbs and wicked smiles. They're laughing at me. They just stand there and laugh while I suffer in front of them. After a few minutes, I'm out of the woods. But it felt like eternity. They're laughter never ceased and only became stronger. I turn to glance at the demons. They're standing there; watching me with those damn smiles again. It's almost as though they're wishing me to stop where I stand and cry. Jokes on them, I don't cry for anyone. Not even sa-
I stop in my tracks. Not even...I look up from where I stand. I've made it to the post. His post. I look at my feet. I refuse to see anymore. I begin walking to who knows where. I don't remember the last time I cried. Wait, yes I do. It was a few years ago. It was the day I decided I wanted to be Head of the Royal Guard. I find myself in the luminescent lighting as the memory takes control. I keep walking
I was 9, my 10th birthday around the corner. I was walking through the woods at night on my way to find Sans. He was gone since the evening saying he was going grocery shopping and had not returned. I figured he fell asleep at his post again. As I'm nearing the exit, I hear two monsters nearby. I hide behind one of the trees. Sans always told me to hide or stay inside and hide whenever he wasn't with me. To keep me from getting hurt he said. I watch from the shadows as two giant hooded dogs with axes walk on their hind legs, laughing. I duck as they get close enough for me to hear their conversation. The one I presumed was male spoke first. "Did you smell..." the one I assumed was female finished his words, "how badly he was beaten?" Dogamy and Dogaressa laughed with wicked grins plastered on their faces. "Talk about weak!" Dogaressa spoke again. "And how weird his blue magic was?" Blue magic? But Sans has blue magic."Of course! Did you think he won?" Dogamy chuckled darkly. "Who cares? Less people to babysit!" The two laughed once more before stopping. Dogamy sniffed the air in my direction and she sniffed the other. I curl into a ball as quietly as I can, my breath becoming hitched and uneven. A growl escaped his lips. "Did you smell that?" A growl from Dogaressa erupted. "Yeah. Let's go before something happens. We can't risk not getting No. 1 Nuzzle Champs this year." " Yeah. The king finally divorced that bitch of a wife of his. Now there's no one stopping us." I watched in silence as Dogi scattered away. I can't stop panting. Were they talking about Sans? Is he hurt? I take off in the direction from where they came. They had to be talking about someone else. They had to be! I round the corner and stop in my tracks at the scene displayed before me. Sans! He's injured, blood clearing seeping from various scrapes. He's standing there, holding his side and his right socket is glowing. "AAAAAAAH!" I look up to see who's screaming and there appears three monsters levitating in the air. I've seen them around before. I think their names were Astigmatism, Chilldrake, and Whimsalot. What are they doing here? They're supposed to be at the CORE, at least, two of the are supposed to be. Did they do that to Sans? Did they hurt him?
"How dare you! Let us go!" Astigmatism is screaming at the top of his lungs. I've never seen Sans so hurt and angry. "You three dipshits think I'm stupid? Now you're really gonna have a bad ti-" He noticed me. He dropped the three, them running away into the clearly as he continued to stare at me. "Papyrus..." He took a step towards me, his hand grabbing his side to keep from bleeding out. "How much of that did you see?" His sockets are empty, as though there's something bothering him. "I-I-I didn't, I," I can't help the stuttering. I was so scared and worried. "What happened to you?" I finally manage something out. "Did they do this to you?" He doesn't speak until he finally makes it in front of me. A chuckle escaped him. "Yep. They jumped me while I was walking home. Guess they did rattle my bones, heh. These groceries don't so good either," his left hand holding up a torn bag dripping milk. I remember the look of horror I gave him accompanied by the feeling of helplessness. "But they can't do that! It's not right! They could've killed you!" He looks at me with pity in his eyes. "That's just how things are." I remember how angry I was at his reply. "But it can't be how things are! It's not fair! It's not-" I remember how pissed off he was with me as soon as he opened his mouth. "It's just how they are!" Fear and helplessness were ever so cruel to me. "Look, kid. Nothing is gonna be fair, nor will it be right. Not here. Not ever. And until we get out of here, we're just gonna have to live with it." I couldn't believe what I was hearing. How could this happen and no one would help? How could they just sit back and watch? Where was the justice? The humanity? "Let's go." Sans walked away, a limp so ever gracing his stride. "But you're-" "I said let's go." I sheepishly followed behind him, my eyes never leaving the ground. He was never this angry at me or at anyone, really. We made it inside the house after what feels like forever. "Papyrus," he beckoned me towards him in the middle of the living room as I was making my way upstairs. I stand before him, my eyes glued to the floor. "Look at me." I look up to see a guilty look on his face. He engulfs me in a hug. "I'm sorry I yelled at you. I'm just a little tired, that's all." Knots are forming in my stomach. "Can't anything be done about this? Can't the King do anything?" He tightens his grip on me. "Afraid not. He's too busy with other things to be in the community." "Can I do anything about it?" "What do you mean?" I tear my face away from his chest to look at him. "Can I do anything about it? To stop things like this from happening? Can I?" A thoughtful look spreads across his face. "The only ones that can really interact and enforce in the community is the Royal Guard, the Head more specifically." "Then that's what I'll become," finality in my words. "Wha-what?" "I'm going to become Head of the Royal Guard!" It was clear that persuasion wasn't going to change my mind. "Alright, Paps, alright. I believe you. Now let's get you in bed before you're 17." Despite his clearly painful wounds, he picked me up bridal style and into my bedroom, me yelling bash fully and him laughing all the way. "Here ya go, kid. Nice and cozy." He tucked me in my bed and went to close the door before I called out to him. "Sans?" "Yeah?" "I'm going to Head of the Royal Guard." He turned to look at me. "Of course. And I'll be there as you do it." With that, he turned around and closed the door. I couldn't sleep that night. The images of him covered in blood plagued my mind. "I'll never let that happen to you again," I thought before I passed out at the late hours of the nightThe memory ends as I stop in front of Grillby's. One last sigh escapes me as I burst through the doors. "Alert my men. We're going hunting."

Long chapter, right? I promised y'all I'd do it! The into reason it's not longer is because I'm too tired to write. I'm still accepting characters (read previous chapter). And now, here's a little fact about me
🌟 Like Papyrus, I've also had family and friends get jumped. However, most of them were killed. One of the luck ones was one of my brother's who was jumped in Maryland and got out with a broken jaw
Next chapter will be a doozy. Hope you guys look out for it! And by the way, please comment! I love reading them!
