Seokjin walked home, a smile landed on his face despite the cold air that bit at his skin harshly. His warm breath let out swirling patterns of vapour into the dark streets, only illuminated by the moon and lampposts. His heart thumped loudly in his chest, his mind racing as his dorm came into sight. How was he going to say it...? What if he got rejected? What if-
As Seokjin grew closer and closer to the house, he found that he was merely metres away from the door. He could feel his breath quicken, a mixture of excitement and fear consoling him. He paused at the door, planning out and thinking over his words. When he finally collected himself, he lifted his knuckles to knock at the door, only to flinch as it swung open.
"I'll see you then, Taehyung." Hoseok smiled, staring back at Taehyung who had opened the door politely for him. As he stumbled out the door, he suddenly ran into something...
Someone.
Seokjin gasped as Hoseok bumped into him.
"Oh, hyung, you're back!" Taehyung beamed, grinning at Seokjin outside the door, his expression a mixture between shocked and utterly horrified. Hoseok stood awkwardly between the two, clutching his textbooks in his arms.
"Y-Yeah." Seokjin stammered. He forgot all about Hoseok. How could he have left the two of them alone? Anything could have happened to Taehyung, and he recklessly just walked out, leaving Taehyung to fend for himself. Seokjin stared back at Hoseok, leering him involuntarily. "Taehyung... You're okay, right?" He confirmed eerily. Hoseok scoffed, offended at Seokjin's lack of respect.
"Yes, fine." Taehyung answered, blushing. Seokjin hummed, relief flooding over him. He quickly pushed past Hoseok, standing directly in front of Taehyung, almost like a barrier. His arms crossed defensively as he stared down Hoseok. The latter muttered a silent: "goodbye" to Taehyung who watched from over Seokjin's shoulder. The older smiled falsely, trying his hardest not to slam it closed behind a now frowning Hoseok, who began turning away.
"Oh, wait!" Taehyung called abruptly as he pushed Seokjin aside. "Hoseok!" Taehyung called out, pulling back the door. Hoseok turned around, surprised, his gaze flickering between Taehyung's gleaming ones and Seokjin's unreadable yet burdened. "Thanks," Taehyung chirped. "...and, e-erm... yeah, bye!" He grinned, waving wildly.
As the door then slowly closed, Hoseok blinked, smiling at the closed door.
Taehyung smiled. Taehyung smiled at him. Hoseok's mouth fell open slightly in joy, his hand clenching at his chest as he stumbled in his step, down the street.
The other side of the door, Seokjin was still frozen. Had Taehyung just called to Hoseok? Not only that, but had he thanked him?
"Jin, you okay?" Taehyung asked, turning to face Seokjin concerned. Seokjin snapped out of his thoughts quickly, suddenly hyper-aware of his hand sitting on Taehyung's shoulder. He blushed, retracting his hand and taking a step away.
"Y-Yeah, I-I mean, yeah, erm..." Taehyung raised an eyebrow. "...I, erm..." Seokjin stuttered. "I need to talk to you, about something... It's pretty important."
"Oh," Taehyung uttered, blinking suddenly. Taehyung led Seokjin over to the couch, the two sitting down. "So, what's wrong?" Taehyung asked, his hand absent-mindedly placed on Seokjin's leg. Seokjin blushed, the feeling of Taehyung's hand not making the situation any better.
"I..." Seokjin muttered quietly, staring straight into Taehyung's eyes. Taehyung stared back, stance calm. He looked so concerned, prepared to hear tragic news of some sort. Seokjin retracted his gaze, only to flicker them back up, and pick up all the details of Taehyung's face; his nose, his eyes, his lips. He teared his eyes away quickly, looking down at his hands that were subconsciously fumbling with loose strings from the couch between his fingers. He'd never been this nervous in his life.
He paused, focusing on the fabric of the couch, the way Taehyung was sitting opposite him; the same way Hoseok was earlier. The way Hoseok's hand was on Taehyung's cheek.
"Seokjin?" Taehyung crooned gently, placing his hand on Seokjin's. Seokjin coughed.
"Oh, nah, never mind. It's nothing." He laughed nervously, brushing off Taehyung's hand, moving from the couch. Taehyung slumped down further into the pillows. Seokjin paused to face Taehyung quickly. "I-I'm really sorry about leaving earlier. That was really irresponsible of me to leave you like that after everything that happened-"
"Hey, don't worry about it. I'm okay, and Hoseok seems..." Taehyung paused. "...nice." He smiled at the thought. Seokjin gulped, turning away, a grimace threatening to show.
"...don't talk to him." He asserted, voice lowered.
"Why?" Taehyung asked.
"You know why...-!" Seokjin gritted out, before pausing. "You know what, doesn't matter okay. I'm... I'm going to bed." Seokjin finished turning back around, pausing at the doorframe. "Night Tae."
"Night-Night." Taehyung said.
