Max's P.O.V.

i checked the time as i woke up. 9:48 am. wow. i slept in. i usually get up at 7 am on weekends.

i pushed myself off the bed and went to take a shower. when i was done, i found a pair of dark denim shorts and paired it with my grey Star Wars muscle tee which i wore over a white tube top. i slipped on my black low-cut Converses and made my way downstairs.

i found my phone docked on the kitchen counter, where i left it last night. there was a note beside it.

Max, i had to go to work early. your omelette is in the microwave. if you're going out, remember to turn everything off and lock up properly. be home by 6. i'll be home by 7 pm. love ya, kid. -Nathanator-

i slipped the note into my pocket and ate breakfast. as i was chowing down, i decided to text Cameron.

Maxtronaut: hey, man. doing anything today?

my phone beeped a minute later.

Cameron Boyce (love....: nope.:)

Maxtronaut: well... you wanna maybe run around town with me?

Cameron Boyce (love....: did you just ask me out??? ;)

Maxtronaut: ha! you must be dreaming...

Cameron Boyce (love....: can't stop, won't stop :)haha. sure, i'll come with you. be over in 5.

Maxtronaut: thank youu. later, gator.

Cameron Boyce (love....: in a while, crocodile.

i lock my phone and washed my plate. when i finished, i flopped down on the couch. i check my watch... it's been 7 minutes. i find a rubber band and pull my hair back into a ponytail. when i finished, the doorbell rang.

finally.

i opened the door for Cameron. he was breathing heavily. "dude." i said. "that was 10 minutes." he wiped his brow. "sorry." he said.

i made him come inside. he just stood around while i bustled around turning everything off. i stole a glance at him. he was wearing a fitted light blue button-down that he rolled up at the elbows, dark grey Bermuda shorts and black Vans.

i walked by him and caught a whiff of his cologne. i felt a flutter in my stomach.

when i was done, i grabbed my wallet, keys and phone and stuck them in my pockets. "so...what took you so long?" i asked him. he cleared his throat. "uh... you know," he stuttered. "getting ready and stuff... sorry."

we stepped outside. i smirked and slipped on my sunglasses. "aww... you dressed up for me?" i teased. he put on his sunglasses too. " pssshh, no" he said, defensively. i locked the front door and walked to him. i leaned in and whispered in his ear. "the axe was a nice touch." i said. i lightly patted his chest and started down the sidewalk.

Cameron's P.O.V.

we were walking down the sidewalk. we were only a few paces from Max's house when i got an idea. "hey," i said. "let's go get our bikes!" she grinned. " oh, right on! good idea" she said. we started off for my backyard first.

i opened up the shed in our backyard and wheeled out my bike. it was a red vintage-looking thing with copper accents. i knew Max had one almost like it. we bought them the last time she was in L.A.

we crossed thd street and rang the bell at Leila's house. Leila smiled oddly at us when she opened the door. almost like she was amused or she knew something we didn't. i decided to let it pass.

"hey, Aunt Leila!" Max said brightly. "may i get my bike in your shed out back? Cameron's taking me around town" i nudged hip and raised my eyebrows smirking. she shrugged.

"oh! sure, squirt." Leila replied. she looked at me and gave me a nod. then, she faked a stern voice. "now, you have her home by 6, young man, or you'll be getting it from me." she said, shaking a fist jokingly at me.

i grinned and stood up straighter. "yes, ma'am!" i said, saluting her. Max rolled her eyes at both of us and made her way to the backyard.

when she was out of earshot, Leila gave me a fist bump. "you're telling me how this little date goes, got it?" she told me. i nodded. "sure," i said. "too bad it's not actually a date." she squeezed my shoulder. "aww, you'll get to that." she said.

she has no idea how badly i want that to be true.
