Max's P.O.V.

when i finally figured out the lock on the bike shed, i was able to wheel my bike out to the front yard. i found cameron leaning against the railings of the front steps. when he saw me, he walked up and helped me. i chuckled.

"aww, what a gentleman." i teased. he kicked down the stand on my bike and took a bow. he reached for my hand and kissed it. my heart skipped a beat. "at your service, m'lady." he said, smiling. i shook my head, amused.

i looked over and saw that Aunt Leila was watching us from the porch. she was smiling. uh oh.

"may i borrow the tire pump?" i asked her. she gave me a half nod, smirking.

"sure, it's in the garage." she replied.

"thanks."

just as i was walking to the garage, my aunt yelled my name and pretended to fire a gun at me. "Lock up when you're done." she said before waving and walking back into the house.

my heart started to race as i dug around the garage for the tire pump. the gun hand-gesture thing, Aunt Leila, Dad and i made that up when i was younger. it was our way of saying. i'm onto you. i sighed, wondering what she could possibly know.

whatever. it's no big deal.

i found the pump and went back out the the front yard. i handed the pump to Cameron. "please and thank you." i said sweetly, winking at him before i flopped onto the grass. he shook his head and started pumping air into the tires of my bike.

he finished in two minutes, flat. "Not bad, Boyce." i said, raising my eyebrows. he gave another bow and put back the pump. when he was done locking up the garage, we both grabbed our helmets, which hung from our handlebars, and snapped them on.

----

in a couple of minutes, we were racing down the street. our faces were flushed and we were laughing like little kids. when we saw a hill coming, we Cameron and i both stood up on our bikes. we were whooping like idiots as we cruised down the incline.

we finally got to the beach. all sorts of stalls and stands lined the boardwalk. at the far end of the beach, i saw rides. i was pumped.

Cameron and i made our way down the boardwalk, pedaling slowly. "so, what do you wanna do first?" he asked me. i nodded over to the rides. "over there." i said. Cameron grinned. "oh yeah! let's go on their rollercoaster first!"

i looked at him, confused. "uhhh.... last time i checked, rollercoasters scared the poop out of you."i said. he faked a shocked face. "uhhh... last time i checked, i went to six flags and rode on X2. so yeah. i'm a man now, officially." he bit his lip and flexed a bicep. i laughed. "okay then, let's do it!" i say.

we find a bike rack in the parking lot and lock up our bikes. we walk to the ticket booth and buy our stubs.the rollercoaster here is called Gut Twister.

----

it was really crowded in line. there so many people squishing us from all sides. i was pressed so tightly against Cameron that our noses we almost touching. my heart was thundering against my rib cage. Cameron looked at his nose, crossing hi eyes. that made me laugh. i appreciated him trying to break the tension and all but we were in a pretty weird position. literally.

when the next batch of passengers got out of line and onto the ride, the space cleared out s little. the line moved forward a litle. still, i could've sworn it was a good 5 seconds before Cameron stepped away from me.

just then, a girl pushed in between us. she had a petite figure, long, straight blonde hair that fell in a curtain down her back, and a deep, even tan. she was basically your stereotypical California Girl. she was wearing white cut-offs, a hot pink string bikini top and flip flops.

"hey," she said to Cameron, flipping her hair and effectively giving me a bleach blonde slap in the face. "i'm  Nicole." suddenly, her blue eyes fot really wide and her mouth fell open as she let out the most bloodcurdling fangirl scream.

"oh. my. gosh!" she said, fanning herself rapidly with both her hands. "you're Cameron Boyce, aren't you?" before Cameron could answer, she continued. "oh my gosh i like love you so much and you're like  so freaking hot and like oh my gosh, i can't believe i'm like actually standing next to you like --"

"oh my gosh?"i guessed, cutting her off. she narrowed her eyes at me. she ran her hands through her perfect hair and leaned into Cameron tracing her fingers along the buttons of his shirt.

i was getting really pissed off at the fact that she was so obviously flirting with Cameron. it never used to bother me when girls checked him out before. what's so different now?

"so," she said, tucking her hair behind her ear. "wanna maybe, hang out today?" she bit her lip and lowered her eyelids, flirtatiously. i rolled my eyes.

Cameron cleared his throat. "i uh..." he stuttered, looking extremely panicked but he composed himself quickly. he wrapped his left arm around my shoulders and pulled me close. he twisted his right arm behind his back and pulled my arm around his waist. he positioned my hand so that it rested pretty low on his hip. i shifted uncomfortably but he just pulled me closer.

he looked back at Nicole. "oh sure!" he said, brightly. "you're totally welcome to hang with me and my girlfriend today." he smiled at me but his eyes were saying, just go with it. i smiled back.

i looked at Nicole. she shot me a poison glare. "never mind." she said, coldly. "i've got to meet someone later anyways."  with that, she walked out of line and  onto the beach.

when she was gone, i removed my hand from Cameron's hip. he still had his arm around me. i cleared my throat and he removed it. "sorry." he said.

i raised my eyebrows. "what exactly just hsppened?" i asked him, folding my arms. he put his hands on my shoulders and rocked back and forth on the balls of his feet. "you," he said, letting out a breath. "just became my first ever two-minute girlfriend."

the bell rang and the ride stopped. it was finally our turn. i smirked,  pulled him by the wrist and muttered, "hope we get to do that again sometime."
