Cameron's P.O.V.

just another day in July. it's hot out.

i got off the couch and check the time. 11:57 am. "hey, dad!" i hollered up the stairs. "i"ll be in the backyard!"

"okay!"  he called back.

i grabbed my ball and my shoes from the closet in the hall. my ipod was docked on the kitchen counter and my sunglasses were lying around beside them. i grabbed both.

i set up the sounds in the backyard and bgan to shoot some hoops. fifteen minutes later, i was drenched in sweat so i pulled of my shirt and hung it on the back of one of the lawn chairs.

i just continued running up and down the half-a-court doing all sorts of tricks. i lined myself up for a shot from just behind the half court line. a split second before i tossed the ball. i flinched and missed my shot.

the ball bounced of the ring and started rolling towards the screen door. my eyes followed the direction of the ball and i saw that somebody stopped it. there was this strange girl standing in my backyard. i couldn't recognize her at first.

long, wavy brown hair pulled back into a ponytail, fair skin, toned, athletic build, legs for days.... who was this kid? i pulled down my sunglasses. was it? no... wait a minute. "Max!" i yelled running to her.

she had her arms spread out, probably assuming i was gonna hug her.

i tackled her around the waist, picked her up and spun her. "oh my gosh, Max! look at you! you look great! how have you been? we've missed you so much!" i was saying, not really sure if she was still listening. "Cam! Cam!" she yelled.

i stopped spinning, ran for the pool and jumped in with Max still on my shoulder and we splashed into the pool. she came up and shook her hair out of the ponytail it was in then, she smoothed it back. i could've sworn, i just stared into her eyes for at least 10 seconds. those green eyes. i was about to get lost in the golden flecks among the green when she splashed water in my face.

"dude, what was that for?" she demanded, jokingly. i grinned and hugged her again. "nothing!" i said. "i just missed you so much, buddy."

-----

we got out of the pool and you could basically wring the Atlantic out of us. she took off her shoes and i offered to hang them up to dry. she pulled off her shirt, leaving just an a white undershirt that left her midriff exposed.

damn. girl's got abs. is it just me, or did Max get... hot?

she caught me looking. "what?" she asked. i shook my head, surpressing a smile. "nothing."

-----

we layed down on the trampoline and talked. we talked school, friends, work.... then, i told her about JESSIE.

"oooh!" she said, bouncing lightly. "about Jessie! i've got news!"

i propped myself up on my elbow so that i could face her."what?" i asked.

she took a breath and said, "my agent, Casey, booked me to audition to play Audrey!" i freaked out after she said that.

Audrey was the character replacing Mrs. Chesterfield on the show. Carolyn Hennesy wanted to do other projects and so she was leaving the show. the story was that Mrs. Chesterfield was moving away because she was going to go and live with her new husband somewhere. Audrey and her mom, Amelia Brown were moving into her old apartment.

----

"you still train at the Basement?" she asked me.

i remembered those summers when we wnt to class there together at the Basement Dance Center. i nodded.

"oh, yeah, i still go to the Basement." i said. "i actually, uh, teach classes there now so that's kind of weird. like, i'm an instructor there now."

"woah, that is so cool! you have to take me down there one of these days, i'd like to watch you teach classes. must score lots of points with the girls, huh?" she waggled her eyebrows.

i wonder if it would score any points with her....

"yeah..." i said. "chicks dig my moves." that made her laugh.

then i got an idea. i asked her if she still remembered the Look at Me Now '11 routine. it was our routine. i remembered how we spent all day here in the backyard that summer, perfecting all the moves.

she told me she remembered so i asked if she wanted to try it out again. she agreed and i set up the camera while she set up the music.

it should be a great X Mob throwback.

itmwas so nice to be dancing with Max again. when Max was my dance partner, everything just flowed so easily. we were always in perfect sync. it was only then that i truly realized how muchni really missed Max over the past two years.

when it was over, we were both breathless. "Max and Bboy Truth here. we out. peace." i said just before stopping the recording.

i jerked my head at Max, beckoning her to come over. as she came over, i flicked the camera mode back to photo. she came over from behind and put her arms around my neck and rested her chin on my shoulder. my stomach fluttered. we made silly faces and snapped a picture.

i told her i would make it my lock screen and agreed to send it to her cause she wanted to make it her lock screen as well.

when her shoes and shirt were dry, she threw them back on and headed off across the street.

i lay down on the grass and stared at our picture. i smiled to myself as i set it as my lock screen.

now to send it to Max... oh shoot.

i got up and ran across the street. i knocked on their door. Max answered it."Cameron!" she said.

i rubbed the back of my neck, "i just realized now.... i don't actually have your number." Max laughed at me and lightly tapped my forehead. handed me her phone and i gave her mine.

i typed my number into her phone

Cameron Boyce (love of your life)

439-2817-0929

and handed it back to her. i ran her hands through her hair as she checked her phone. she smirked and nodded. "see you tomorrow?" she asked, just as i was walking down the front steps. i turned around and started walking backwards. "yeah." i said with a grin. my foot caught on the last step and i fell on my butt.

Max laughed and i smiled sheepishly. "okay." she said one last time before closing the door.

i checked my phone just before i left and i found her number.

Maxtronaut

408-07128-0528

that made me smile. i gave her that nickname.
