I should stop with those bad feelings. It was my friend Eve that I hadn't seen in like forever. As excited and surprised as I was to talk to her, I did not expect her to say what she did.
"So, will you come to London and go to One Direction's concert with me? You could crash at my place for these few days and in general, you know that you can stay at my place as long as you want. Please say yes, please say yes."
Without further ado and over thinking it I just say the craziest thing ever " Yes! So I better hang up now and go get ready!"
"Can't believe you actually said yes! See you tonight!" and with that I hang up.
I throw my phone back on the table and rush to my room to get my bag, grab my passport and some clothes for change. Heading back to my room I take my lovely cell phone and run out the door.
Lucky me I live in the centre of Glasgow, so I quickly get the bus and in less than 30 minutes I'm at the airport.
Never thought that I'd say it, but the kidnapping had its advantages. Being away from the world for 2 weeks I didn't have a chance to spend all my salary which was now exactly enough to pay for my return ticket. It also came handy that Stanley, who I hate with my whole heart and soul, actually emailed my boss to tell him that I've got some desease that I can't even pronounce and that I won't be back for at least a month. Of course he did it from my own account, but he somehow managed to add a legit proof of a doctor's note or maybe it was even from a hospital, didn't pay too much attention to that.
It took about an hour of going through the airport check and then waiting until I finally boarded the plane.
A few hours later I landed and my dear friend Eve was already waiting for me. She ran to me and hugged me so tight I forgot how much I'd missed her. A girl that I've known since my childhood, who was always there for me. We had some major fall outs growing up as we both were very stubborn. But after a while we seemed to have grown out of it or at least she did. I don't know why I stopped our friendship once she moved to London and I to Glasgow. It's not like distance can destroy friendship. I mean, look at me and Zayn. It's often different continents that we're at and that doesn't stop us from keeping in touch and supporting each other.
Chatting we go to her car and after an hour drive from Luton airport to Queen's road, we finally get to her flat.
My biggest worry was what do I talk about with her. Its not like I can randomly tell her that I've been kidnapped. Or rant about my love life with Zayn which is most likely known by the whole world anyway. Of course, not my side of events, but the one of the band's management. Maybe tomorrow I can call Zayn and get to talk to him face to face after his concert. Afterall, it's not that often that we're in the same city.
We spend about two hours catching up, talking about how work sucks, how much we miss childhood, easy life and all other random stuff.
After a good night's sleep we get breakfast and head out to walk around London. Eve shows me around all the famous spots like Big Ben, tower bridge, Beckingam's pallace and London's eye. The day goes by so quickly we hardly get time to eat lunch at McDonald's and get into the car to go to O2 arena.
We actually turn up quite early, so I decide to let Eve find our seats while I go backstage and try to find Zayn.
I end up in some quite dark staircase and run into someone I did not expect to see there. It's Alfredo Flores, from Justin Bieber's team. Maybe their whole crew came to watch the performance. I don't get much time to keep thinking as he interrupts my thoughts.
"Who are you, how did you get here and what are you doing backstage?" He said in a tone that wasn't as angry as it may seem. more likely curious.
"Hey Fredo, I'm Rebecca, Zayn's friend. That's how I got here."
"Wait, you're THE Rebecca?" He asked, his eyes wider.
"What do you mean? Have we met? I'm sure I'd remember.."
"No I mean are you the girl all the newspapers talk about? I hate media and all, but that seemed legit. Are you the same Rebecca that is accused of being the girl Zayn cheated with on Perrie?"
"Yes, the same one. But it's so not like everything is said in the media. Zayn and I have known each other for like 14 years, we've been best friends for 7 and all that story is bullshit. Everything he has with Perrie is just a publicity stunt."
"Okay, I can believe the first part, but publicity stunt?" He shows me to follow him to the 3rd floor, opens the curtain and indicates for me to take a look. What I see breaks my heart. I see Zayn with Perrie, backstage, where no paparaci can see them, just the two of them, enjoying each others company.
I break down, fall down to my knees and start crying, realising that he'll never be mine. The love of my life has slipped through my fingers and I'll never have him, ever. So this is what heartbreak feels like.
