We walked out and I was in awe. The field was in a small town, and a park was close by plus some small shops and houses."Why are we here?" I asked, he shrugged.
"Don't know, I just put it on random." I giggled a little and looked back at the field overflowing with flowers.
There was a gentle breeze and the sun was out, but it wasn't too hot. It was a perfect day. Until we heard the cringing scream through out the town. I looked at the Doctor and he looked at me, a smiled spread across his face before we started sprinting to the place we heard the scream come from.
We saw a girl, probably about 18, laying on the ground, a shot wound in her stomach. An image of Tobias all bloody and limp came to mind, making tears run down my face.
"Astrid, you okay?" The Doctor asked me. I quickly nodded, wiping the tears from my face before running over and checking her pulse: dead. I looked up at the Doctor and shook my head, he looked down a little and sighed.
"What happened?" He asked someone near by.
"There were these things, they had blue metal suits on and looked like baked potatoes. She was trying to stop them from capturing a little girl and they shot her. The child got away, but it was too later for her." The man said, pointing to the teen girl. Wait, did he just say baked potatoes?
"Sontarans, they're the baked potato things." He informed both of us. "Well come on then, Astrid, let's go fight some aliens!" He said and started running the way we had come from.
He had a hold of my hand as we ran, then he abruptly turned around and ran the other way.
"This way!" He yelled. I laughed. He's ridiculous.
We came up to a weird ship thingy, one that looked like it would be in Star Wars.
"So, are we going inside?" I asked.
"Of course!" He answered before dragging me onto the ship. We barged into a big room with Sontarans everywhere.
"Intruder!" They yelled.
"Yeah, yeah, I know. But you know who I am and what I want." The Doctor said. They laughed.
"What do you want, Doctor?" One asked, taking his helmet off. He did look like a baked potato!
"I want you to tell me your whole plan and then leave and never come back!" He said. Why on earth would they do that?
"Hahaha! You are a funny one, Doctor. But we would never surrender from a fight!" He answered as the others laughed. The Sontaran looked over at me and his smiled dropped, fear spreading over his features. "The reckless child! Why is he here? Get him out!" He yelled. Two guards grabbed me from behind and pulled me away. I looked over and saw they were doing the same thing to the Doctor. We were thrown into a cell that was mostly concrete but the door had metal bars instead.
"What was all that about?" I asked, frowning.
"I don't know. Has anyone called you that before?" He asked. I shook my head.
"So, what do we do?" I asked, he sighed.
"We have to get rid of them, they won't surrender so we need to get them off earth." I nodded.
"How?"
"Find a control panel and we'll figure it out from there." He said and went over the the door. He took out a small, metal stick thing and pressed a button on it, making the end light up a bright green color. The door clicked and swung open. We walked out and he closed the door again.
Is this what his life is like? Aliens and danger around every corner? Or is this just an off day for him?
We ran through the hallways, hiding in corners and closets when Sontarans were walking in our direction.
"We don't have long before they notice we're missing so we need to hurry." He told me, I nodded and we kept looking for a control panel of some sort.
"What about in here?" I asked, pointing to a glass door with computers and buttons everywhere. He walked over to it and looked inside.
"Exactly like that!" He exclaimed and opened the door. We walked in and looked around.
"Okay, so here's the plan, at least how I hope the plan works out." He said, I laughed a little. "So, you stay here and find the self destruct button or something that would work just as well, just something that will get them off of Earth. Then I'll go and distract them and also try to get them to change their minds. If I give you the signal, which is my sonic screwdriver noise, than you press the button and get out as fast as you can. Understand? Don't doddle, don't wander around, just get out. You won't have long so you need to be fast, got it?" He told me, talking sternly.
"Yes." He nodded and left. Good thing I know how to use computers, that's my specialty.
I sat down at one of them and started hacking into their program. It didn't take long to figure out the password. I typed it in and looked through their database, hoping to see a manual of some sort to find the self destruct button. I found it in only a couple minutes and got ready to press it, only awaiting the Doctor's signal.
I read on the manual that the button had a 1 minute and 30 second timer before it would destroy the ship. That would be just enough time to get out of the ship, if only I could remember the way out....
I looked on the computer for the layout of the ship, a map, something, but no luck. I just decided I would have to rely on luck and what my brain told me.
After about another five minutes I heard the loud, screeching, ringing noise that was the Doctor's sonic screwdriver. I took in a deep breath and pressed the button.
"Self destruct activated. One minute and thirty seconds until self destruction." The robotic voice of a lady spoke. It then started counting down as I ran out of the room and into the long, metal hallways.
Her voice rang out in the entire ship, telling me how much time I had before my death. I knew I wouldn't find my way out, I had an awful memory. I could hardly remember which way to run first. I decided on going right, that seemed like the correct direction.
"One minute and two seconds" the voice said as I ran into another hallway, going left. I had no idea where I was and I was going to give up, I didn't want to live anyway, but then I remembered about the Doctor. I didn't want him to wait for me, I didn't want him to die cause I gave up. He was the only reason I kept going, the only reason I didn't just sit on the floor and await my death.
I ran down the hall and turned right again before running straight on into someone. "Sorry." I said before looking up and seeing it was the Doctor.
"Thank god, I thought you were lost." He said as the count down reached thirty seconds.
"I was." I said as he lead me through the halls. We found the door and ran out. He went first and I followed.
We got out just in time and jumped onto the hard concrete, our hands over our heads.
I landed on the cement and smacked my head hard on the ground, rendering me unconscious.
