Recap:
Well lets get this class over with. I think to myself as the gym class teacher comes into the gym. My mouth hits the floor when I see who it is.
The Story [][][][][][][]
"Dad?" My voice croaks out. He looks up from his paper, and his face visibly pales.
"Tallia? Is, is that you?" He asks, letting his papers drop to the floor. I nod my head in response, not trusting my voice. He runs his hand through his hear. I start to see the resemblance between us. The same hair color, same eyes, same nose.
"Why didn't you come home? Me and mother thought you died." I tell him, finally speaking. I try to hold back the tears but it's impossible.
"Can we talk in my office? Class, organize yourself into a game. I will be back shortly." He addresses the class. He nods to Damien and starts to walk towards his office. I follow him and take a seat in his office. I notice a picture on his desk. It is of me him and my mother, taken the day he left. It is of me with his glove and bat, my mother looking at me with a smile and my dad looking at her with love in his eyes, and me looking in the camera. I remember sending that to him a few months after he left, to cheer him up.
"Now, the reason I never came home is that after my time ended, some things happened and I was placed in witness protection program for a certain amount of years. I got notice yesterday that my time would be ending in three years and I would be able to contact you soon. But since you are here I will have to talk to them about it. So tell me, why are you here?" He asks, sitting down in his chair on the other side of the desk. I take a deep breath and tell him everything. From starting school last year, to the peer counseling program, to the locker incident and concluding with mother moving us here. His eyes shine with un-shed tears, and worry on his face.
"Wanna know one of the worst things that happened to me since you left?" I ask him once I finish. He nods.
"Only a few days before we left, in gym class we had to play baseball. You remember my gym teacher right? The one you were close with before you left? Yeah, he still made me play." I say looking up at him. He is crying. He stands up and I stand with him, he walks around the desk and pulls me into a hug. The first hug I have gotten from him since he left all those years ago.
"Please don't leave us again daddy. Please" I sob into his shoulder.
"I promise sweetie. I promise I won't" He tells me.
"I need to get out there. I made a new friend and he is probably getting worried." I tell him pulling back from the hug. He gets a frown in his face when I mention the boy.
"Who is it?" He wonders.
"Damien." I reply simply. His face relaxes.
"Oh, Damien. A very nice boy. Well I will let you out there. But I won't treat you any different;y just because you are my daughter." He tells me with a wink. Just as I reach the door he calls out to me.
"Tallia, you look like a beautiful young lady" He tell me before I walk out the door. I smile back at him and walk out the door. I walk onto the field to see everyone playing baseball. I take a deep breath to calm my nerves. I look back at my Father and see him with a grim expression on his face. I give him a small smile and walk over to the dug out, I wait in line till it is my turn. Damien is pitching. Once it is my turn, I grab a bat and walk over to home plate.
He offers me a small smile and I give one back. I watch him pitch the ball and it is like everything is in slow motion. I watch as it slowly makes it s way to me. I wait till the right moment to hit it. The ball hitting the bat makes a loud crack. I see it fly between first and second, into the back out field. I start to run and throw the bat. I make it to first before anyone gets the bal. By second base, they are throwing it into the middle outfield, I make it to third base before the ball is caught.
Finally I make it to home base when they throw it to third base. My whole team erupts in cheers. I look to the score board and relies we won. I raise my hands in happiness, and look to my Father. He is clapping and his eyes show how proud he is of me. After we bring all the equipment in, we go and get changed. I quickly change and add a spray of my perfume so I don't smell like sh!t and walk out into the gym to wait for the bell. I'm just waiting when I feel an arm around my shoulder. I look up to see who it belongs to. Damien.
"You were amazing out there." He complements me. I smile.
"Thanks, my father taught me." I say with a sad smile on my face.
"Hey, what was with you and Coach Grey at the beginning of class." He asks me as the bell rings.
"You know how I was telling you how my father left to fight in the war and I never saw or heard of him again?' I ask him while we walk to his locker. He puts his bag in his locker while grabbing his books.
"Yeah." He replies while shutting his locker. We start walking to my locker.
"My full name is Tallia Daisy Grey, and Coach Grey is my father." I tell him while putting my things away and checking my schedule seeing what class I have next.
How is that for a new chapter?? I won't give a long Author note cause I'm too lazy so
