I smirk to myself as I walk into the photo lab, find a spot and sit down.
"That's my spot." A guy says. I look up him and squint, not hearing what he said due to my music playing. I take slide my headphones down from on top of my head and place them around my neck.
"Pardon? I didn't hear you." I say, a slight blush forming on my face. I offer him a slight smile.
"I uh, said you are in my spot but you can sit there if you want." He says, rubbing the back of his neck.
"Oh, I'm sorry! I just moved here and didn't know we had assigned seats!" I tell him in a rush as I stand up. I move to a different seat and drop my things on the table in front of me. He comes and sits down right beside me.
"May I help you with something?" I ask, sliding my headphones down again. He gives me a toothy grin before replying.
"Yes you can. Come sit with me. My mom would smack me silly if she found out I kicked a beautiful young lady out of her seat." He says showing off his pearly whites in a friendly smile. I sigh, a smile playing on my lips, and follow him back to his seat. We sit down and start to talk about random things till the bell rings.
"Okay class, today we will be signing out cameras and- oh! Who is this? I haven't had a new student in years! What's you name? Know what? Come up here and introduce yourself." The teacher says, waving me up to the front of the room.
"Um. My name is Tallia but you can call me Allie, I just moved here from Cali, and I miss it dearly." I say, looking around the room.
"Any questions for Allie?" The teacher asks after a few moments of awkward silence. I see a guy raise his hand from the back. He is wearing a football jersey and I regret saying my name.
"A few years ago, we had a girl named Tallia. You look a bit like her but she moved away after some kids played a prank on her. Just wanted to let you know." He says, sliding down in his seat, his eyes never leaving mine.
"Did the prank include condoms and Mc Donald's coupons?" I ask, tilting my head to the side, still looking at him.
"Yeah, it did. How did you know?" He asks, his face paling slightly.
"Oh! I forgot to tell you! My name is Tallia Grey... I'm the girl they played that prank on those years ago. But I'm back and I could care less about him and his group of Neanderthal friends." I say with a sickly sweet smile before sitting down in my seat.
"Tallie? Don't you remember me?" The guy I sit beside asks me. I look at him and shake my head no.
"It's me. Kellen." He says, looking in my eyes, begging my to remember. And I do.
"Kelly?! Is that you?! I thought you moved back to New York?" I say, throwing myself into his arms in a hug. He laughs and hugs me back.
"I moved back two years ago." He says, placing me back in my seat.
I can't believe you didn't remember me! Your best friend. Not just your friend but your BEST friend!!! I mean really? I still look the exact same as I did in fourth grade!" He says, playfully slapping my arm.
"Psh. Yeah. Right. Exact same my ass." I mumble under my breath. The teacher asks for our attention while she hands out cameras for the year. She tells us to protect them with are lives. We all nod and start playing with them, taking goofy shots of each other. Once the bell rings, we are given cases for the cameras. I place mine around my neck and head out to my second block- English.
I find my way with ease but stop in my tracks when I see who is in my class.
Jason Grey.
He is laughing with his friends but when he looks at the doorway- or where my feet are currently glued to the floor, his smile drops and his face pales. He clears his throat before returning to his friends. I walk in, swaying my hips as I walk to the teachers desk. I can feel him staring at me.
