Instantly, Ryder and I broke apart, looking towards the entrance way where the voice had come from.
There standing was a group of four girls, all wearing huge grins on their faces and t-shirt’s sporting Ryder’s face. I turned to him and raised my eyebrows. He shrugged and smirked, our moment easily forgotten.
I chuckled and waved my hand towards the girls, “Duty call, Mr. Rock Star,” Before turning around and weaving my way out of the crowd of people.
When I reached the kitchen I turned around to where Ryder was and saw that he was signing their t-shirt’s with a small smile on his face.
“My cousin, always stealing the spotlight, huh?” I turned around at the sound of a girl’s voice and was met with big brown eyes.
“Oh, Ryder’s your cousin?” I asked the brown eyed, brown headed girl and she sighed. “Yes, and what a burden I bare.” I chuckled and she smiled.
“Pagan Black. Nice to meet you.” She said as she held out her hand towards me.
“Oh, um- Callie Carter.” I said as I shook her hand.
She scrunched her eyes as she gazed at me and said, “Hey, don’t you go to Lousiville High?” I nodded and she pulled her hand back.
“I thought so; you’re a senior aren’t you?” I nodded and she smiled, “Me too. We actually have a class together I think, theater is it?”
I racked my brain and tried to think of the people in that class and I actually remembered that she always set two rows away from me in the auditorium.
“Oh yeah, you set in section C, don’t you?”
“Yeah! And you used to sit in section B but you moved to A for some reason.” She said and I instantly grew uncomfortable.
I did used to sit in section B. But that was when I was still friends with Megan and Nicole. That was when I was still dating Jackson and he wasn’t screwing that evil bitch, Veronica.
It’s funny actually. How she easily replaced me when they voted me off the island. Megan, Nicole and I always used to joke about how Willy Wonka was going to call Veronica one day and ask for his ommpa loompa back, she wore so much make up that didn’t match her skin tone. Now Megan and Nicole are sporting the same orange tint as their new bestie.
“Oh, I just wanted a change in scenery.” I replied to Pagan and she nodded slowly, not really believing my short answer but accepting it none the less.
“Cool,” She said as she shrugged, “So I know how I know Ryder and the boys… but how do you?”
My hands instantly grew sweaty and my heart started racing, “Um… I, Well-.”
“Hey Pagan, when did you get here?” Noah’s voice said when he came over and gave her a hug.
“Noah! I haven’t seen you in forever! How have you been?” She asked as she pulled back and grinned at him.
He shrugged and put his hands in his pockets, “Ah, same ol’ same ol’. What about you? Any news from TeenMag?”
She shook her head and her smile dropped a little, “Not since a week ago when I contacted them.”
Noah playfully ruffled her hair, “Don’t worry Pay, they’ll call. How could they not? You’re gorgeous, and any magazine would be lucky to have you model for them.” Pagan blushed and smiled softly.
“You think so?” She asked. He nodded and grinned, “I know so.”
I was beginning to get the feeling this was turning into a personal matter, so I quietly went to go around them when Noah held out his arm.
