___________

Aisha's POV

'Gosh! I've had so much time off work for the wedding! I can't wait to get back to work!' Sonia patiently listened while she painted my nails.

'I can't wait to start my internship either!'

'You're gonna have so much fun there! I went to Ahmer bhai's (brother's) office ages back and everything's so cool there – They have cake every single day.

'Speaking of cake, when's your birthday?' Sonia asked.

"Ages away! Whose birthday is closest in your family?"

"Zain bhai! But he doesn't celebrate it since it happened." Disappointment reflected on her face.

"What happened?" It really intrigued me that he didn't celebrate his own birthday considering that after knowing him, I'd expect him to celebrate his birthday over for like 10 times before he felt contented.

"He hasn't told you?"

"Umm no..But what happened?"

"He lost his best friend a day before his 18th birthday so...we just wish him but he doesn't..umm..really "

"Oh my Gosh! I didn't know that. Did you know this friend?"

"Yeah! Irfan bhai (brother) was the best! He literally lived in our house!"

"He's in a much better place now! I hope his parents are okay now." I was literally in shock.

"His parents were in an awful state probably because he was the only child. Zain Bhai used to meet his parents every day until they moved abroad."

"It must've been very difficult for him. Does Zain talk about it?"

"He rarely mentions it now. He used to before he started smoking though....."

"Hang on WHAT?!! Zain smokes?" This new picture kinda disappointed me.

"You didn't know that?" Sonia confirmed.

Hell I didn't - Before I could voice my opinions, I was interrupted by Zain's mom.

"Hello aunty"

"Sonia, could you make me a cup of tea?"

Did I just get ignored?

"Sure Ammi (Mom)" Sonia answered.

"What were you guys doing anyway?"

"I was just telling Sonia that I will be going back to work from next week" I tried to make conversation again.

"Office? Haven't you sent in your resignation yet?" Okay – I so wasn't expecting that reply!

"Umm I thought I...."

"Surely you're not gonna work now considering that you're married...Anyway what date was Uncle Arif's son's wedding?" Zain's mom looked at Sonia for an answer.

Did I just get blanked again? Looks like I've been ignored to the level of infinity now.

I excused myself to make tea. Let's just say I had been subjected to a bit in the past fifteen minutes.
