Chapter six, Lets All Be Sarcastic Twats and See What Happens.
It proved to be pretty funny to watch Hugo and one of his Ares buddies carry the oracle up the stairs. Partly because Percy could see the poor kid(Sherman?) was about to retch, partly because this proved to be a big blow on Hugo's ego.
Anyway. The whole camp would be mad at him for beating their golden boy, and then there was the new prophecy from the Oracle. It was like the spirit of Delphi had gone out of her way to include him, which wasn't a very nice thought.
Of course, the camp didn't know who the prince of animals was, and it'd be pretty hard for them to figure it out, considering most of Olympus didn't even know. Heck, most animals don't know him by name.
The prince of animals shows the trail.
But what kind of trail, it could be a hunting trail, one ment for tracking something. Or it could be a path or route. With the double meanings of both prophecies and the word trail. They'd never know.
Gods help him now.
"What will Chiron do?" He asked Grover, curious what the centaur might think.
"I wish I knew." the goat hybrid looked at the camp borders from where they were sitting on the second floor of the big house. "I want to be out there."
"Searching for Artemis?"
Grover had a little trouble focusing on Percy. Then he blushed. "That too, of course."
"Drachma for your thoughts?" Artemis' son asked.
The satyr clopped his hooves uneasily against the wooden floor. "Just something the manticore said, about the Great Stirring. I wonder... if all those ancient forces are waking, maybe- maybe not all of them are evil."
Percy didn't know how to respond to that, but before he could Thalia tromped up the stairs, looked at Grover and said, "Tell Hugo to get his butt downstairs."
"Why?" He heard Hugo ask from the floor above them.
"Did he say something?" Thalia asked Grover. Percy was beginning to see past her hot headed attitude.
"Um, he asked why."
"Dionysus is calling the cabin counsellors to discuss the prophecy," she said. "Unfortunately, that includes Hugo."
Uncle Dionysus and Chiron sat at one end of the table. Zoe, Percy and Bianca(who had kind of become Zoe's personal assistant) took the other end, Praelia and Amicus sitting at the son on Artemis' heels. Thalia and Grover, Annabeth Hugo sat along the right, and the other head councilors- a muscular dark skinned male, a beautiful girl, and two almost identical sons of his uncle Hermes -sat on the left. The Ares kids were supposed to send a representative, too, but all of them had "accidentally" gotten broken limbs during capture the flag, courtesy of the hunters. They were resting up in the infirmary.
His sister started the meeting off on a positive note. "This is pointless."
"There is no time for talk," Zoë continued. "Our goddess needs us. The Hunters must leave immediately."
"And go where?" Chiron asked, and Percy almost wanted to strangle him.
"West!" Bianca said. He was amazed at how different she looked after just a few days with them. Her coal black hair was braided like Zoë's now, so he could actually see her face. She had a splash of freckles across her nose, and her obsidian eyes shone with a renewed vigor. "You heard the prophecy. Five shall go west to the goddess in chains. We can get five hunters and go."
