I took a deep breath and sighed. After that whole scene tonight, I figure Shawn has a right to know. But I still needed to call my sister before Terrance got home. God knows what he'd do to her and their unborn child.
"Hello?" She answered after a few rings. She sounded like she was sleeping or at least on the verge of sleep.
"Larren, it's me. Has Terrance come home yet?"
I heard her scoff in irritation on the other end. "Why are the two of you so concerned about each other's lives all of a sudden? Terrance is my husband, you don't need to worry about where he is!"
"But you do." I responded. "Your husband just came to my house and tried to have sex with me, and he's acting out of his mind. I don't think you should stay in the same house with him tonight."
She stayed silent on the other end for a while, and I couldn't tell if that was a good or bad thing. "Yeah, right." She said softly. "Are you just telling me this to get back at me or rub it in my face?"
"No, I'm telling you this because I'm worried about you. And you should be worried about the safety of your baby."
Again, silence. When she finally spoke, I could tell she was upset. "I have to go." Without another word, she hung up the phone.

I sighed and lowered my own phone from my ear.
"Any luck?" Shawn asked.
I shrugged. "I don't know. Either she doesn't believe me and she's pissed at me, or she's considering the idea, and it upsets her. I don't know if she'll actually leave tonight though."
He pulled me closer to him and rubbed my legs as he sat in front of me on the bed. "I'm sure she'll be fine. Now, we have to talk."
I sighed and sat down next to him on the bed. "Five years ago, Terrance and I...were engaged." I glanced up at his face, but he didn't seem too shocked.
"I'm listening." He coaxed me to continue.
"We'd been dating for five years before that, and I loved him so much. He was...perfect to me. Everyday, I was more and more in love with him, but I think he stopped loving me at some point, I don't know when." I paused to wipe tears from my eyes. "He asked me to marry him, but just a few days before our wedding, I caught him cheating on me. With my sister." When I glanced up again, he was staring at me with a soft gaze. I shrugged. "And now they're married with a baby on the way. And I have to pretend to not care every week. And I don't want him back, it's just...I can't figure out why I deserved that."
"You didn't deserve that. He didn't deserve you."
His words made me smile. I'm not sure how, but those two little phrases made me feel so much better. I've told myself that a million times, and even my sister has told me, but for some reason, coming from him, it just meant so much more. "Thank you." I whispered. "It's late, we should get some rest."
After making sure the doors were locked, Shawn and I laid down under my bedsheets, and he wrapped his arm around my bare waist. We stayed like that until sleep overcame us.

About eight in the morning, I woke up, still in Beyoncé's bedroom. Last night was pretty crazy for the both of us, but I'm glad she was able to get some rest after that. I stayed in the same position for a while just taking in her scent. She always smelled like vanilla and honey, yet I've noticed she doesn't have any perfume on her dresser. I guess it's just a natural scent.
After admiring her for a few moments, I checked my phone for my e-mails, as I do every morning. Simon, the graphic designer that Beyoncé hired to do my cover, e-mailed me back with three designs for the book. Honestly, I really loved all three designs, but I wanted Beyoncé's opinion too. I wanted to e-mail him back as soon as possible, so I shook Beyoncé awake. Or, I tried to, at least.
"Hey, Bey." I spoke as I gently stroked her arm.
"Hm...?" She moaned and rolled onto her back.
"Simon the designer e-mailed me back. I want you to see his designs."
She groaned in response and turned her head away. "Baby, it's early. Ask me later." She whined.
I smirked. I wonder if she realizes that she just called me 'baby.' "It will only take a second." I laughed and kept pushing. I started to tickle her waist, but she pushed my hand away and continued her soft breathing.
I almost gave in and let her sleep, but then I had an idea. I knew what would wake her up.
