Cody snarled once and lunged forward a little. In utter panic, I dove under the table shaking so hard my teeth chattered. Then he did the most shocking thing; he withdrew to a standing position, then threw his head back and laughed. His sharp teeth gleamed in the low light. Rachel, clearly unamused by the show raised her eyebrows.
"Show off." She scoffed. His claws and wings all slowly returned back into his body. Then at last his blue eyes returned. Rachel's head peered under the table after a couple of minutes me refusing to move. "It’s over. He’s not going to hurt you. You can come out." She reassured. I shook my head and she sighed, standing. "Now look what you did!" I heard her scold. "She won’t come out. Are you happy?"
"She should be afraid. Not all demons are nice, Rachel." Cody defended. The door on the opposite side of the room opened and closed. At once I heard a familiar voice.
"Hey guys. What's going on?" Kaycie's voice pierced the silence that had just appeared.
"Cody scared Gracie on purpose." I could almost see Rachel's glare.
"Oh he did, did he?" A few seconds later there were many loud smacks and a couple of "ow"'s, Then I saw Cody's feet shoved out into the room we had first entered. "And stay out there till you apologize!" She shouted then harrumphed. Quickly, Kaycie hopped under the table next to me. "Hi!" She greeted cheerfully. I waved, staying silent.
"Cody's mean huh?" I smiled and nodded. "I hit him for you. So now he’s in trouble." She crossed her arms and tried to look strict; I laughed. Kaycie trying to look strict was just so absurdly funny! She relaxed her face into a grin.
"Hey Kaycie, what are you?" I murmured.
"Oh well see I'm a water Nymph. You know, kind of like a fairy? Only we live in like water and all that stuff."
"Shouldn't you be small then and have like....you know...wings?" I made a motion behind me.
"We shrink when we get wet and we don't have wings. We can also control liquid. Watch this." I looked at her curiously then peered out from under the table to where a bucket full of water-minus the bucket- floated out into another room. It was silent for a few seconds then a loud splash echoed out from the other room. Kaycie busted into a fit of giggles.
"KAYCIE!" I heard Cody roar. Angry footsteps pounded over to the table and lifted it up. Cody's hair was plastered against his head and the neckline of his tank-top was drenched.
Kaycie looked up innocently. "Yes, Cody?" I snickered under my breath.
"I appreciate you cheering up Gracie but not at my expense." He growled. Kaycie only laughed.
"It wasn't me." She lied, smiling.
"Oh really?" Cody's eyes narrowed. "Who was it then?"
"Billy Bob Joe." She answered flawlessly.
"Who the hell is Billy Bob Joe?" He raged.
"My friend. He's an octopus you know. With a little hat." Kaycie giggled gripping her stomach to keep from laughing so hard. Cody only rolled his eyes angrily and put the table aside. Then with a gentle grip he grabbed my forearm to drag me upward.
"We're leaving." He muttered and started leading me out the door. "Say goodbye."
"Bye guys." I murmured. They all smiled and waved as I left. We went through the main entrance where Jackie and Tucker were playing with little cars. "Bye Tucker. Bye Jackie." I waved. The two looked up.
