Chapter 6 - Dinner

It was about 2 weeks after the whole incident of the shattered Rubies being forced to fuse together. Garnet was okay yet still a little shaken up from it. After all, it must have been quite a traumatic occurrence for her.

Although, you were astounded about fusion and the whole "Giant Woman" thing, you were even more interested in Connie and Steven. You went to The Big Donut to see them fused together! Of course, they explained it but that really made you wonder...

Connie is fully human and so are you. If she can fuse with Steven, then can you fuse with Pearl? OH UM. A-Any Crystal Gem, really. Pearl was just an exaMPLE NOT A PREFERNCE SHHHH.

Anyway, you decided to bring it up in conversation one day. And today, you had the perfect opportunity! Steven had invited you and Connie around for dinner! Even though Garnet and Pearl don't actually eat, they were still going to be there so at least you didn't have to rely on Amethyst to answer your questions. She was a very powerful and intelligent gem but she wasn't always serious and had tricked you many a time when it came to gem knowledge.

You were dressed up nicely but not too formal. Your style was a smart-casual design which was definitely suitable. It's a perfect fit; you look great in it!

You knocked on the wooden door of Steven's home. Pearl opened it and her face lit up a little to see you.

"(Y/N)! Glad to see you again. Please, come in." Pearl welcomed into the house you knew so well as you thanked her, being as polite as possible. She just nodded and fetched Steven from his room. It was literally just up some stairs but hey! Gotta love his house.

"Yay! You're here!" Steven hugged you around your waist and you hugged him back. It was like you hadn't seen him for ages even though it was only a couple of days ago that you learnt about Stevonnie.

"Hey, is Connie here?" You asked, wanting to ask her about a book she recommended to you.

"Yeah. She's just in the bathroom." Steven replied, pointing to the Water Chamber with his thumb.

You were all sat at a table. The coffee one had been moved and this... new? dining table replaced it. The chairs were wooden but comfy to sit on. Pearl didn't eat anything but DID boast about making dinner. She made spaghetti which just happened to be your favourite (change if not).

While eating, you all exchanged stories and jokes. Sharing memories of the past and plans for the future. Steven talked about his intriguing adventures with the Gems and even showed you Rose's Sheild! It was really pretty and sparkled like diamonds. Even Pearl joined in.

"(Y/N)," *clears throat* "Knock, knock." Wow, Pearl. Just wow.

"W-who's there?" You mentally slapped yourself for stuttering. Garnet promised you that if you are trained and confident then you could accompany the Gems on their missions! And trust me, you wanted that.

"Circle."

"Circle who?"

"Nevermind, it's... POINTLESS!" Pearl burst out laughing. You realised that Pearl wasn't a very comedic person and found a simple joke like this hilarious. Or perhaps it's because she told it.

Either way, it was a pretty clever maths joke so you laughed. It was more of a little giggle than hefty chuckles but polite nonethless because even bad jokes deserve good audiences.

Pearl smiled and blushed a light blue when she saw you laughing. It was as if she had accomplished something amazing. You smiled back at Pearl.

"Thank you for dinner everybody but I must go. My Mum might get worried if I'm not present at home for a while. I've had a great time." You thanked the Gems and stood up, tucking your chair in. Then, just as you were about to take your plate over to the sink, Pearl took it from you and placed it in the washing bowl.

"Thank you, Pearl. You're an excellent host" You smiled and nodded a little.

"Well, one does to try their best." She said back, her calm words echoing through your ears. Although it was about 3 meters away, Pearl escorted you to the door.

"I'll see you a-again sometime, (Y/N)." WAIT PEARL STUTTERED.

"Yes. I'll see you again." Your voice was a little shaky but getting more confident.

After you walked down the Temple stairs, you noticed Pearl was still waving to you as you hit the sand of the beach.

You arrived at home and your Mum wasn't there. Sighing loudly, you collapsed into your bed and drifted into a deep sleep. Understandably, you were rather tired from this chapter's activities as well as anything you did.

However, there was one person on your mind...
Pearl.

She was outstanding! And very pretty. Her attire was ironically pearlescent and was always presented neatly. Her admiration and loyalty to Rose Quartz was inspiring to you. Pearl was just so perfect.

You guys have NO idea how annoyed I am with myself for not updating this any sooner. Life his been busy, WiFi connections have been ridiculously poor and school is starting on Monday so I've had to prepare for that.
