We chose to meet everyday during the breaks, James, Elena and me. With our FMA friends of course! But something, to me at least, seemed wrong. Totally wrong. It was just too weird FMA characters could live in our world normally!! That was impossible!! And yet... I let the hammer fall onto my foot as I was pinning two wood boards together, letting out a small scream of pain. James came toward me.

-You okay??? he asked me worryingly.

I nodded weakly, picking the hammer up before going back to work. The three of us decided Ed, Al and Winry couldn't live in my house anymore, because the parents would find out too soon. So we were currently building a small wooden cabin for them to live in, even if Elena proposed me to take them with the militaries. But I refused. I could have fun too right?? My other friend came toward me too, a smile on her face.

-I'm sorry I can't really help you... she apologized.

But I answered with a laugh, punctuating it with a hit of my hammer on the board.

-Why do you even apologize? I asked her, it's not as if we were going to blame you for that!

-But I-

-We know about your problem and the proof, your wheelchair, is right in front of us! Right James?

He took a while before answering, too focused on the plans for the cabin. He was actually very good at this!!

-Ah erm, of course!! Sorry sorry, I was distracted!

I rolled my eyes playfully, sighing slightly.

-Damn, why do you all apologize?? I laughed.

We laughed together before someone came to interrupt us. It was Al in fact, and I really wondered what he wanted....

-Kathleen, I found a cat but brother doesn't want me to keep it!!

I shrugged. I didn't see any harm in keeping a cat now that they could have their own "house"... That's what I explained him and it was happily he ran back to his brother. I smiled contently, about to pin another nail, when a new voice stopped me again.

-Kathleen, I don't understand this maths exercise.... And James is bad in anything related to sciences....

This time, it was Envy, who desperately tried to do his homework, not far from us. I grabbed his copybook and his exercise to have a better look at it. Really, it didn't suit him to ask for help!! I didn't know homunculi could change so much by being human.... But I didn't say that loudly, of course, and simply explained him how to solve it. Algebra had never been a problem to me and I was always glad I could help!

-Aw, you're so good at maths Kathleen!! he sighed, why can't I understand anything....

-Cuz you weren't an alchemist!!! Ed shouted loudly, suddenly appearing on a tree.

-I am not an alchemist either Ed.... I told him.

It felt like a one hundred tons anvil fell on his head as he met the grass harshly. But he quickly regained his composure and flashed a toothy smirk toward us.

-Of course! But you've got the same intelligence as us!!

I decided to reply the same way, with a toothy grin and a brow raised.

-Ah? Too bad, does that mean I'm short tempered too?? I wait, that's your specificity! Short AND short tempered!

His smirk changed into an angry grimace as he came toward me, menacingly. But I had already learnt how to control that....

-WHO IS SHORT?!?!?!

I threw a punch in his jaw and got back to my work. I discovered recently that the combination of violence then ignoring him could call him down quite quickly! He sat up then pouted cutely, looking away. He was about to say something when a wrench threw right into his opened mouth, making my friends and me laugh so hard we had to hold our bellies.

-That doesn't have a good taste... he groaned removing it.

-Well, that's what you get, Winry shrugged.

We exchanged a meaningful look with my friends before going back to work. This cabin had to be finished quickly!!

***

At thread of the day, with all of our friends' help, and without alchemy, of course (seeing how it didn't work....) the Elric brothers and Winry's home was finished and the only thing missing was them. To celebrate this, I went back home and grabbed two bottles of coke and some crisps before going back. It seemed that Elena predicted everything because she had a bag with plastic glasses. James deluded to play the waiter and poured many glasses of coke for us.

-Well! We can say that's finished! I declared proudly.

-Yup! You did a nice job, thank you very much!! Al bent in front of us.

-Aw please not this kind of stuffs with us!! James smiled.

But a car suddenly stopped our laughs and happiness. I blinked, not recognizing it. It wasn't my brother's car, his was white and this one was blue, nor my parents' one.... So....? James smiled and raised his glass toward the car, from where the five missing homunculi came out. I gave him a questioning look.

-Where did Bradley learn to drive a car??

-Well....! he simply shrugged.

I was relieved it wasn't someone else or something, but when I saw another car, panic came back, even if I hoped it was the military guys.... But it wasn't. Instead, a rather young woman came out from the passenger's seat and walked toward us, quickly but gracefully. Elena became pale and in a quick motion, I ordered everyone except James to go hide in the wooden cabin. Lust sighed.

-Dammit.... It had to happen.... she groaned.

And I agreed with her...

-Elena, can you tell me what you are doing with.... Them? the woman asked pointing both James and I.

He was about to protest about the fact we weren't bullshit or something, but I stopped him. I knew there would be troubles so it wasn't smart to add fuel to the fire...

-Well, Katheen and James are my friends, she defended herself and us.

I gave him an encouraging look which she answered with a slight smile.

-I mean no harm in the fact I don't want you to see lower people than you, she replied curtly, so you go back home.

-But mom I-

-There's no but. You obey me.

I raised an eyebrow and decided to act. This was enough. Even her mom had no right to tell her who to frequent!!

-Miss, I beg your pardon but I think your daughter can see us right? It's not as if we were the lowest people on the earth!

Elena's mother simply rolled her eyes, putting her hands on her hips. Really, she tired me already!! How could someone be so... So proud?!

-I knew it wasn't a good idea to put her in that school.... Jordan! she called.

I could guess Jordan was the driver. He was a tall and apparently strong man, really, really intimidating. Even with her fifteen centimeters heals, Elena's mom wasn't as tall as him... He picked out friend off her chair and carried her to the car.

-Wait!! Wait Jordan I don't want!!! she yelled punching his muscular torso. We could only watch.... I wouldn't dare punching him even with a black belt in karate....

-Kathleen do something.... James begged me.

Did I become so important everyone thought I could solve any problem just by snapping my fingers...? How pathetic..... I couldn't even save my friend...

//yow!! I know it's been a long time but school starts tomorrow!!! Already.... And I didn't touch my holiday homework at all hahaha!!!
Well more seriously, I don't know if I still have the right to apologize....? Yes?? No??
Anyway!! I hope you'll enjoy this chapter!! I kinda had a block so... ^^""
See ya in two weeks!!
