Chapter 11 : Source of Problems?!

I was half sleeping in maths when the bell woke me up. I didn't sleep at all last night, and Elena hadn't been in school for a week and a half now... Ed shook me slightly so I could fully wake up and leave the classroom. Despite the fact James tried to have news with his dad's help, it didn't work at all and our friend was still out of view. In the corridors, I suddenly bumped into a girl. It was quite weird, I didn't notice her at all! It was as if she was new... Winry gave me a concerned look.

-What's wrong Kathleen?

I shrugged.

-Nothing, might have seen something unusual... I simply answered.

The next day, and the day after, I didn't see any trace of the strange girl. I was starting to think it was odder and odder, when I felt a hand on my shoulder, firmly turning me around. The girl!

-Who are you....? I asked hesitantly.

-My name is Jessica, I have something I want to tell you Kathleen.

-How do you know my name?!

She didn't answer and pulled me into a very dark corridor of the school, which was never used. I looked at her, unsure of what to do. Jessica must have understood it because she sighed deeply.

-You can trust me, there's no problem....

I nodded reluctantly.

-What do you want?

-It's about the FMA characters in our world.

I held back my breath. How could she notice... there was a curious force making people around not noting they were from FMA, except few of us.... Like James, Elena or me...

-What are you taking about? I asked crossing my arms.

-Oh don't act as if you don't know! You're Kathleen! One of the chosen.

-Beg your pardon?

-I chose you and your brother to keep an eye on Edward, Alphonse and Winry, like I chose Elena and James for the others! BUT! Elena had to disappear! One of the pillars is broken....

-Well I'm sorry, but we tried our best for our friend!

Jessica sighed and turned toward me, a small bottle in her hand. She gestured me to take it and explained me it was a potion she made.

-What's that for? I raised an eyebrow.

-Give each guy some of that. They'll turn normal during twenty four hours.

-A complete day then, I stated.

-Exactly. Elena is situated in a building, in New York City.

-Eh?! We're in California!! How do you want us to go there?!

-You know how.

And without another word, she left. Left!!! And I stayed here like a complete idiot, a bottle of green liquid in my hands!! I sighed. I still didn't know if I could trust her... She seemed to know so much things....

Three days passed and I still didn't try the weird potion.... I told James though, who told me he had an helicopter when I would need one! I was grateful. Finally, maybe should we use it....? I gathered few characters; Ed, Al, Roy, Greed and Envy, to give them the potion.

-You'll be back to normal during a whole day. And we'll use that day to save Elena, I told them.

While they were all taking a few of the green drink, James was getting his vehicle ready. I was lost in my thoughts when I heard sudden winces in pain. Turning around, I noticed Ed's arm was slowly becoming metal, Al was getting taller and taller as an armor drew around his body... Red sparks appeared around Greed and Envy And Roy.... Well Roy was perfectly fine, his gloves and uniform appearing on him as of it was nothing. I watched their transformation during five minutes and, when I estimates they were ready, I started my chronometer.

-We've got a day!! Let's go!! I said.

-My helicopter will never be able to carry so much people!! James suddenly said popping out of nowhere.

I thought a little then looked at my palm tree friend.

-Envy. Giant bird or dragon form, I told him.

He let out a sigh of resilience and changed into a majestic dragon. I climbed onto his back with Ed and Al.

-Take the others! Let's meet gather around the Empire State Building! I told my friend before Envy started his fly. It was amazing. We were going through the clouds at a so fast speed!! I was delighted!! But not Envy.

-Using me like a vulgar way to fly... I'm so vexed! he stated.

-Don't be! You'll be useful later! I promised him.

Sooner than I thought, the huge Empire State was in front of us. I was waiting anxiously for the landing....

-It'll be harsh, be careful! he warned us.

He progressively changed into a bird, then it got smaller and smaller.... until we were falling from the sky. All of us, except Envy who was a small bird.

-Envy you!!!! Ed yelled.

-I'm sorry! he replied, I didn't well evaluated the high!!

Fortunately, we were face to face with a wooden ladder, held my Roy Mustang himself...

-Do you pretend to be angels? he smirked as he looked down at us.

We all grabbed the ladder, and I glared at him.

-Very funny!!

-Was better in the Heli though, Greed smirked reaching the colonel.

-Whatever....

When we finally landed, all of us safe, we were met by Jessica. I glared at her, oddly not even surprised by her presence.

-What the hell?

-I'm here to encourage you, she said, if you succeed, I'll tell you something very important. I should have done it earlier though.

-Now is not time for promises. We have a limited time! I replied frowning.

-I know. Please be fast but careful, there are lots of guards.

She seemed to know everything...

-Who are you dammit??

-Just know me as a kind of "game master", she smiled mysteriously.

Then she turned around and left as she came, quickly.... All of us were so shocked nobody dared talk, but soon enough, we recovered.

-Let's go, I declared.
