"Charlie is under extreme care. And is breathing" the doctor said slowly.

"Oh thank god!" I cried.

This was the happiest thing that had ever happened to me. Everything was brightening up. My world was spinning slowly, I had a chance.

"I'm not finished" the doctor said.

My heart sank.

I slipped my hand into Connors back pocket and grabbed his keys without him noticing. I wasn't sure If I could take this.

The doctor breathed in heavily.

"What happened." Connor demanded.

"Charlie... He took a lot of pills, as you know"

Connor and I nodded in perfect sync.

"Ms. Foster. He took almost the entire bottle from what we found... I'm sorry but your brother is in a coma"

My heart sank to my toes. I lunged toward the door, but the doctor stopped me.

"He is almost stable. no one can see him for a few days. We will keep in touch." he nodded and walked down the hallway.

I bolted out of Connors arms and out the emergency room doors. Tears welling up and overflowing out of my eyes. I couldn't hold in my emotions. I wailed loudly. Sinking to the ground. The snow whirling around me, making my black hair come alive in the night. The frosty snow froze my legs as I sat, but I couldn't care less. My brother was in a coma. A FUCKING COMA. And there was nothing I could do about it.

"Oh Charlie, I wish I could have helped you. Charlie you can't leave me." I said to the ground.

"YOU CANT TAKE MY BROTHER LIKE THIS!!" I yelled to the sky, unable to contain my anger, my sorrow, my guilt. My world was falling down brick by brick. I heard footsteps heavy behind me.

"Come here, baby," Connor helped me to my feet and carried me.

"Give me my keys" he said softly, not wanting me to freak out.

He put me in the passenger side, I was shivering violently from the mid-December air.

He went around and got in, then turned the heat up as high as it would go. he didn't drive, he just sat there with his head in his hands. I heard him sniffle and whimper. But I knew I couldn't help him, not when I, too was at the braking point. Connor took a deep breath, and pulled out of the parking lot.

"I'm spending the night with you wether you like it or not. I'm making sure you don't do anything to hurt yourself." his words stung.

"Why would I hurt myself?" I asked trying to conceal my secret.

"Do you think I'm dumb?" he growled

"I've seen them."

"Seen what...?" my voice was shaky.

I jerked forwards as he slammed on the brakes and looked at me. His eyes were wild and bloodshot. He grabbed my arm roughly and rolled up my sleeve.

"I've seen this." his voice was deep.

I tried to hold back my tears. I looked down at my scared arm, almost completely red and white from scars.

Once again, car horns blared and swerved around us. Connor started driving again

I didn't dare talk while we drove home. He pulled up to my house, and we both got out. I sprinted to the door and opened it, ushering Connor inside to preserve the warmth. I kicked off my shoes and headed upstairs towing a silent Connor behind me. I walked past Charlie's room and stopped in front of it.
