I woke up to the sound of connor and Charlie fighting. "she couldn't have just fell and hit her head!!" connors loud voice demanded Charlie "well, she did" unlike Connor, I could hear the lies in Charlie's voice. "the important question is" Charlie started "will she wake up..." they said together. I felt Connor take my hand in his. Where was I? How long was I out? I wondered. I opened my eyes and sat up. Connors eyes widened and softened to a light green. He lightly kissed my cheek. The room seemed to spin. I was lying in my bed with Connor at my side, and Charlie hovering near the door. A slight hint of envy in his eyes. Both of their faces showed worry. "hey" Charlie simply said. "w-what happened?" I asked looking at charlie. I was really wondering 'what's the story were going with?' "well, you got a paper cut, when you saw your own blood, you got dizzy and fell. When you did, you hit your head on the wall" he explained. Connors muffled laugh confused me. "that is the biggest load of crap I have ever heard! You really want me to believe that?!" Connor answered my confused expression loudly "she has had her neck ripped open without it phasing her!!! She can run her hand through cold water and freeze and not care!! She...she hurts herself and is relieved" his voiced seemed pained. His words hit me with such force I flinched. Charlie noticed, his eyes told me he wanted to help. I shook my head no. "your probably exaggerating Connor" Charlie told him in a calm voice, his eyes turned cold again. Connor shook his head, his lip quivering "can I talk to him...alone?" I asked Charlie. He hesitated, then left the room silently. Closing the door behind him. "Connor, look, I don't... You see I... It's not..." I stammered trying to find the right words. He looked into my eyes. As I gazed at him, I melted. "I'm sorry..." I whisper "no, no no no. Don't be sorry! It's not your fault. Your probably just loosing consciousness at times and forgetting. Yeah, that's it" it seemed as if he were re assuring himself instead of telling me. I nodded my head in agreement, just to spare him. No one said anything for a while. "Melanie. I don't want to see you hurt. You know I love you right..." he said "of course" I leaned my head on his broad shoulder " I love you too" I added. He held my hand tighter. " just promise me, you'll tell me if anything is wrong. If your hurting. anything is wrong. Call me, I'll be over as soon as I can okay?" I nodded. He's so cute when he's protective. "I'm going to go talk to Charlie for a second. I'm sure it's late, your mom might be worried" I told him. He nodded "I'll pick you up from school tomorrow?" "I'll be here" I said as I walked out the door. Connor paused outside of Charlie's Door and listened. Does he know? Hope Charlie didn't tell him. He followed me downstairs "I'll see you tomorrow. Stay safe" he whispered and kissed my cheek lightly. He walked out the door and waved as he drove by. It was dark. My cheek still burned from his touch. I walked back upstairs to Charlie's room. I heard nothing. I walked in. Charlie was laying in his bed...softly snoring. He must be so tired. I turned out his light and walked back to my own room. I just lay there thinking. What really happened? Did I get hit? Or simply shocked?? I fell asleep. Immagining Charlie and Connor keeping guard so he can't get me.

I was waiting, waiting for him. He would get me. I'm ready. I'm not going to loose. I took a deep breath and closed my eyes. I heard it gargle and groan. It's here. I flashed my eyes open to see it. The gremlin, short and grey with sapphire eyes. The one who killed my friends. How did I know that? I looked to my left. There they were. All slashed up, laying in a pile. I shuddered. The gremlin captured my attention with a low growl, which sounded like I laugh. It wielded the knife. The one used to kill the others. It was lined with blood, slowly dripping down, splashing against the dirt. I looked around and noticed we were in a forest, huge trees surrounded us, preventing my escape. As if by magic, the trees were see aflame. I had to kill it. I linger forward only to be stopped by its strong grip. He wrestled me to te ground. I couldn't win... The knife was against my neck, I could feel the still warm blood that was dripping from the knife. Why wasn't he killing me? The gremlin disappeared. A quick flash of light blinded me, my vision was blurred, I couldn't tell where I was. When it cleared up, I looked around the trees were normal. It was all quiet. The bodies were gone. I saw Charlie and Connor. They saved me.

**

I awoke with sweat dripping down my brow. What happened? Why couldn't it kill me? They acutely saved me... I can still breathe. Maybe it isn't a good thing...
