Chapter 13

Joshua's POV

I really had not expected Violet to come. I guess Jade is really good at persuading. I look at Jade and she gives me a smug look. As I look closer at Violet, I realise she has eyeliner and blush on. I suddenly notice that Violet has really pretty dark brown eyes.

We sit down in Brady's room and Noah immediately kisses Jade. "So, who wants to play spin the bottle?" Brady suggests, looking excited.

Everyone nods except Violet. Looking confused, she asks, "What's that?"

Lucas bursts out laughing. Jade explains, "Oh, Vi, I know you've never been to anyone's house except mine but basically after spinning the bottle, if the bottle tip points to you, then it's your turn to answer truth or dare." Her eyes widen and she says, "Oh, then sure."

"Okay I'll spin first," Noah grabs a plastic bottle at his side and spins it. The bottle tip points to Lucas and he says, "Truth." I smirk and ask, "Is there anyone who you have a crush on?" Brady grins at him. He looks down and stammer, "Um... can... I change to... um... dare?" Brady's grin stretches bigger and he says, wiggling his eyebrows at him, "Oh! So there is someone! Who is it?" Everyone looks in anticipation at Lucas and he shakes his head.

"Okay guys. Let's stop tormenting Lucas," Violet says. Anger fills me. Why is she protecting him?

"Fine fine." Noah says, spinning the bottle again.

This time, the tip points to Violet.

She says carefully, "Um... Dare?" "I dare you to kiss Lucas," Brady says, grinning. Violet hesitates and leans over to Lucas. She kisses him lightly on his cheek and rushes back beside Jade.

My heart starts pounding, while I glare at Lucas angrily.

Violet's POV

I watch Joshua's reaction from the corner of my eyes as I kiss Lucas lightly on his cheek. I give him a small reassuring smile and return to where I was sitting before.

All I see is Joshua glaring at Lucas.

After many rounds of spin the bottle and the sudden introduction of alcohol, Jade is drunk and so is everyone else except me.

I sigh, why won't anyone ever listen to me and not drink? I look around Brady's room. Jade is making out with Noah who's laughing at himself, Lucas is stumbling around while giggling, Brady is jumping on his own bed and Joshua is...

Nowhere to be found.

I groan. Am I the only responsible and sober one? Great, now I have to find Joshua. I close the door and walk downstairs, quietly calling his name.

"Joshua? Where are you?" I call. I sound like I'm talking to a dog. I switch on the lights and look around the kitchen.

"Violet!!! Hahahaha... Violet! Vi-o-let! Your name is... so... so... fun to say!" Joshua says while laughing. I turn around and see him falling onto the floor. I rush over and help him up.

"O-kay, let's go upstairs..." I say, panting as I drag him towards the stairs. "Do you know something?" Joshua hiccups as he puts an arm around my neck. My heart hammers against my chest and I ignore the tingling sensation. "Yeah... What?" I pant even more. He's heavier than I thought.

"There's... this girl... She's so nice and cute... And I really... really... like her..." he says, smiling at me. My heart stops and I become breathless. "Oh yeah? Who's this girl?" I ask carefully, pretending like I don't care even though I half expect disappointment since it won't be me.

What am I saying? Why would he of all people like me?

"Her name... is... Vi-o-let... " Joshua grins as he hiccups. I can't help but smile as I drag him up the last step.

Don't forget, Joshua's drunk. He probably didn't mean it. At all.

Quickly I cover it up and pretend like I really don't care.

"Okay, we're finally here," I sigh in relief and close Brady's door. Wheezing, I drop Joshua onto the floor. Eyes closing, I curl up on the floor and fall into a deep sleep.
