Author's Note

I'm back! Sorry for not updating but now, exams are over! Enjoy!

Joshua's POV

I wake up and see a mess of black hair in front of me. I look closer and realise it's Violet.

Getting up quickly, I straightened my shirt and look down at her small figure curled up beside where I had slept.

She looks so peaceful sleeping.

I bend down and push her hair behind her ear, a small happy smile on her lips as she sleeps. I smile down at her.

A headache suddenly comes and I sit down on the floor, resting my head on my arms. I close my eyes and memories from last night come flooding into my mind. We had gotten drunk and I had wandered into the kitchen. Violet's face appears in my mind as I remember her helping me up.

I grimace in pain as a memory of me telling her that I like Violet resurfaces.

Shit.

Did I really tell her that I like her? But I only knew her for a week! How is that even possible to have a crush on someone after a week?

I look at her calm expression and all I want to do is to protect her.

From Jasmine, from pain, from anything.

Violet's POV

I yawn and get up. I look around and everyone else is still asleep except Joshua.

Where is he?

My mind wanders back to yesterday and his confession that he likes me. The corners of my mouth turn up sub-consciously and I can't stop smiling even though I know he probably didn't mean what he said.

I open the door and look out. Hearing water running, I look to my right and see Joshua shirtless in the bathroom washing his face.

My eyes wander to his abs and I swear I started drooling in my mind.

"Checking me out, Mitchell?" he says cockily, smirking at me.

I look away and say, "Um... no."

Such a liar, Violet.

"Hmm... don't worry, I already know I'm hot." he says, chuckling.

"Are you sure you're hot? Are you running a fever?" I ask.

He scowls and I laugh.

"Hey listen, um about last night, I didn't mean anything when I said I like you... I mean, we're friends, maybe even good friends but I don't..." he begins and my heart shatters but I cover my emotions up in a flash.

"It's fine, don't bother about it. You're really heavy though. I dragged you up the stairs and I almost died," I say, trying not to sound disappointed.

"I'm not fat!" he retorts, narrowing his eyes at me, "Didn't my abs confirm that?"

I smile at him innocently and say, "Have you ever heard that self-praise is no praise at all?" He ignores me and I grin.

"Hey guys, should we go for breakfast? Plus, I'm sore from sleeping on the floor. Hey that rhymed!" Jade says behind me, yawning. "Sorry but you and I are going to my house to talk about something," I say, pulling her toward the stairs. "But... talk about what?" she asks me lazily, grabbing her bag and mine.

"Tell Brady we left! Thanks!" I yell over my shoulder as I drag Jade out the front door.

"What's wrong? You look like you're about to cry," Jade says, concerned.

"That's because I am." I say, walking towards my house quickly with her following me.

"Come on, Vi, tell me what happened," Jade insists, catching up to my pace.

I take in a deep breath and I start, "Last night, all of you guys were drunk and Joshua said he likes me..." I haven't finished but Jade squealed in delight.

"HA I TOLD YOU SO!!!!!" she exclaims, grinning at me.

"I'm not done. I was happy about it at first and then just two minutes before you woke up he said he didn't mean it at all," I finish, sniffing.

"Oh Violet, that asshole doesn't deserve you!" Jade says angrily, hugging me in the middle of the street.

A tear rolls down my face and I control myself before I turn into a disgusting teary mess. "How can anyone like someone so much in a week? Plus I'm a strong person. I don't cry because of a guy! What's happening to me, Jade?" I ask quietly, resting my head on her shoulder.

"Vi, it's Joshua. He's affecting you. It's how you know you really really like a person. Don't worry, I'll take care of him," she hugs me even more tightly.

"Thanks Jade, but you don't need to," I say, letting go and walking faster towards my house.

"Yes I do! I'm your best friend and we take care of each other. I won't let him hurt you again," she says, comforting me.
