CHAPTER 1

AT MANU FASHION HOUSE

All the people are busy walking around and some are talking, or we could say they're discussing their works. The moment they hear the boss is coming, all return to their respective places and there is a pin-drop silence. Of course, their boss is none other than THE MANIK MALHOTRA. According to them, their boss hardly smiles and is very strict when it comes to work, and of course, Mr. Malhotra does not like a noisy environment, especially in his fashion house, and that's why you could see that sudden change. When Manik walks past them, everyone is wishing good morning to him and yes, he too replies to them with a nod.

IN MANIK'S CABIN

Someone knocked on his cabin door and asked, "Sir, may I come in?"

Manik: Yes, come in, Miss Laila.

Laila: Sir, I am resigning from my job today.

Manik: What, are you out of your mind? People are dying to work at this fashion house, and you want to resign from the job. (Laila was quiet as Manik's anger increased.) Okay, now tell me, why do you want to resign from the job?

Laila: Sir, I know that I am going to lose the opportunity to work here, and I even know that I may never be able to get such a job anywhere else, but I have no other choice, sir. My husband has got a job opportunity in the USA, and I am following him to settle down there. (Upon hearing this, Manik calmed down unknowingly.)

Manik: Okay, if that's the case, then your resignation is accepted. Aur haan (And yes), don't worry about your job in the USA. I will recommend you to one of my friends there, and you can consider that job if you are interested.

Laila: Thank you so much, sir.

After Laila left, Manik was lost in his own thoughts: "Wow, this girl actually loves her husband very much to be ready to sacrifice such a big job. That just reminds me how opposite she is compared to my so-called mom."

After college, all his friends were busy settling down in their lives; Manik was too. Yes, he moved out of his house as his mother had married another rich guy for money again, and his father had settled down in another country. His father even asked Manik to come over when he found out that his mother had married someone else, but Manik decided to settle down in Mumbai and start his own fashion house, 'The Manu Fashion House'. He named his fashion house after Manu because his dad used to call him Manu when he was young. Now he is a successful man; he has made The Manu Fashion House the number one fashion house in a short period of time. He owns a huge mansion under his name, The Manik Malhotra Mansion, and also owns a black Mercedes-Benz car. Manik Malhotra has everything in life, but happiness and love are somehow missing. He is too busy with his work that he didn't notice that he is actually missing the warmth of these things.

NANDINI'S HOUSE

Nandini is staying with her Amms in Mumbai. Her Amms is the school principal of one of the famous schools in Mumbai, and she also gives private tuition to her students at the house. Nandini's ambition is to become a successful fashion designer, and while she was waiting for her job, she also helped her Amms in teaching her students. They were not rich but had a happy life in their own house, and her Amms had also bought a small car for Nandini so that it would be easy for Nandini to travel when she starts work. After her parents' death, her Amms took care of her and loved her so much that she did not miss her parents as much but was determined to be successful to make her parents happy.

Suddenly, Nandini's phone starts ringing...

Amms: Nandu, tumhara phone is ringing, kanna.

Nandini: Yes, Amms (She walks toward her phone and gets excited when she sees the caller's name.) Hi, Navya, how are you?
